Bear Buzz – Weekend Edition
Time to tie up some loose ends from the week… Reason #499 to hate Jared Allen If the fact that he’s a Viking and that stupid mullet aren’t reason enough, check out this post on the Vikings blog. Hey Jared, you’re not rushing against John St. Clair or John Tait any more. We’ll see what Orlando Pace has to say about that! By the way, where you from Jared? Texas? Only two things come out of Texas, steers and queers and I don’t see no horns under that mullet! What’s Greg Olsen thinking? In case you’re ever interested, check out [...]
We got Cutler. Now what?
OK, so the Bears have picked up Jay Cutler. We have our starting QB. Now what? I’ve heard from a lot of Bears fans asking about getting some weapons around Cutler. People have gone so far as to say, “Why bother getting Cutler? He doesn’t have anyone to throw to.” That idea is just plain stupid. You know why? Because we had no weapons for Kyle Orton to throw to and Jay Cutler is better than Kyle Orton. Sure, it cost a couple of draft picks, but essentially we played without our first round draft pick last year, didn’t we [...]
Fansided is more than just NFL

Behind Enemy Lines – Jay Cutler Edition
I’ve grabbed the camouflage that I frequently don during the regular season to get the scoop on the Jay Cutler situation from around the league. Check out this video of Bronco’s Head Coach Josh McDaniels discussing the trade: Check out the Kyle Orton comments at about the 3:23 mark of the video. Interesting to see how he’s viewed by his new team. Speaking of Orton, he has already arrived in Denver, raring to go.
Cutlermania Continues to Grip Chicago
If a picture is worth a thousand words, the smile on Jerry Angelo’s face says it all. By the way, Jerry must have a tanning bed in the war room, because he is awfully tan for someone who is supposed to be hunkered down planning for the draft. I am actually thinking about changing the name of the blog to All Things Jay Cutler. In the meantime, here is an excerpt of the Chicago Bears press conference introducing new franchise quarterback Jay Cutler along with a post-conference interview, courtesy of the NFL Network .
Jay Cutler is a Chicago Bear
I am as shocked as anyone to have typed that headline and not have it be an April Fool’s joke. Maybe the joke will be on the Bears and the words of all the naysayers and Jay Cutler haters will prove true, but at least the Bears did something and actually made a bold move in an effort to stabilize the quarterback position that his been in dire need of repair for the better part of two decades. Here’s a download on the trade details from the AP off YouTube:
Brad Biggs is reporting that the Bears have also landed free agent left tackle and former Pro Bowler Orlando Pace. Pace’s best days might be behind him, but he’s got to be an upgrade over John St. Clair, don’t ya think? Plenty more on both of the Bears moves to come.
BREAKING NEWS – BEARS LAND CUTLER!!!
Much more to follow, but for now the Sun Times is reporting that the Chicago Bears have landed Jay Cutler! The Bears acquired quarterback Jay Cutler today for No. 1 draft picks in 2009 and 2010, a No. 3 pick this year and Kyle Orton, the Sun-Times has learned. The Bears receive the Broncos’ fifth-round draft pick this year. Cutler, 25, is coming off a Pro Bowl season with the Broncos, but he became disgruntled and wanted a trade after learning Denver was considering a deal for quarterback Matt Cassel. This is an unprecedented move!
