The NFC North leading Minnesota Vikings head to Green Bay to the face the second place Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Some guy named Favre makes his return to Lambeau Field for the first time since he retired then unretired and then played in New York then re-retired and then un-un-retired again. Keeping up with all of this? This game has major implications for the NFC North and figures to be the game of the week.

The Bears had a golden opportunity to gain ground on the Vikings, who lost last week at the hands of Pittsburgh. Instead, they laid an egg and dropped into sole possession of 3rd place in the NFC North.

I am closing the book on last week’s Chicago Bears train wreck against the Bengals. It’s over. Done. Not even going to bring it up. Page turned.

The Browns are coming off a doosie of their own: a 31-3 beatdown at the hands of the Packers. But they’re used to it. The Browns are nearly as pathetic as the Lions, which is saying something. They are suffering from what the Bears had gone through for years – a quarterback controversy. When you have a controversy between 2 quarterbacks, it usually means you don’t have any.

If the Bears lose this game, you might as well start following the Bulls or Blackhawks because football season will be over. Without further ado, here are the Keys to the Season Bears vs Browns:

Bart’s Best – Week 8 Top Plays

Again, sometimes you just have to be content with a .500 week if you’re a betting grinder. I ended up 2-2 last week bringing my season total to 16-12. However, watching a lot of those games come in last week always makes you second-guess yourself for not taking certain games. I originally stayed away from New England because you never know how traveling to another country can throw off a team. Then after the game started, I thought, okay – they both had to travel and New England is like….28 points better than Tampa. Dang! I jumped off the Jets bandwagon a week before so I couldn’t bet on them again – even if they were playing Oakland. I was the only one who picked Houston in my confidence pool, yet didn’t have enough confidence to pull the trigger in making them my pick for the week. I have to apologize in advance, but the DeCon is sick (I have never referred to myself in the 3rd person before, but I kinda like it), so this is gonna be a relatively short post. Feel free to e-mail me this weekend with any lineup questions you might have and I will get back to you. I am going to keep this simple and just give you the guys I like and don’t like this week…

Guys I Like this Week

Matt Forte vs Cleveland – I am calling Forte out…perform this week or I drop you from 2 of my squads…Cleveland??? Come on…and in the orange jerseys to boot…this has to be his week!!!
LeSean McCoy vs NYG – Westbrook’s concussion gives McCoy a chance to shine…not the best matchup, but AZ ran pretty well against the Giants last week.
Kevin Smith and Steven Jackson in the Toilet Bowl (StL @ Det) – This is probably the worst game on the schedule this week, but both defenses are suspect and I think both RBs have a chance to shine.
LaDanian Tomlinson vs Oakland – I don’t know why because LT has been disappointing, but there is something appealing to me about LT at home versus Oakland with a firm chip on his shoulder that sounds like a winning combo to me in favor of LT owners… … [visit site to read more]

Jerry Angelo did his weekly chat on the Chicago Bears official website on Wednesday. Some interesting nuggets coming out of the interview. Let’s see if we can read between the lines

How do you explain what happened to the Bears in Cincinnati?

I don’t want to take anything away from the Bengals because they are a very good offensive football team with a great receiver, a great quarterback and a running back who’s having a Pro Bowl year. But what really surprised me was that we weren’t able to make the needed adjustments in terms of slowing them down or stopping them. We let that go really throughout four quarters. We couldn’t slow them down and make some stops or even force them to settle for a field goal instead of a touchdown to keep us in the game where we could have some hope. That surprised me. I didn’t expect to see that.

The Mark Sanchez hot dog-gate from the Jets win over the Raiders has been well-documented. In fact, he made more news today to take a potentially negative situation positive, by donating a bunch of wienies to a soup kitchen.

He’s not the only one who’s been eating on the sidelines. Thanks to some insiders that were at the Bears-Bengals debacle on Sunday, here is a report of what players were eating on the sidelines during the 45-10 ass-whoopin’:

Cedric Benson: Snickers, he was snickering at his old team all day long

Jay Cutler: Payday, he got his payday and didn’t seem to care about what was going on at the game

The offensive line: Sloppy Joe’s, just plain sloppy play

Jay Cutler is a BIG Kelly Clarkson Fan

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is apparently a BIG Kelly Clarkson fan. Jay and Bears backup QB Caleb Hanie were reportedly at a private Kelly Clarkson concert hosted by the 101.9 The Mix. Here’s what the Trib’s Luis Arroyave had to say about the Poppy (as opposed to Punky) QB’s appearance in his About Last Night column:

Kelly Clarkson performed a five-song acoustic set at Hub 51 (51 W. Hubbard St.) on Monday in front of 101.9 FM contest winners and invited guests, including Jay Cutler. The Bears quarterback had dinner and watched as Clarkson sang locker room favorites “I Do Not Hook Up” and “My Life Would Suck Without You.”

Bears backup QB Caleb Hanie joined Cutler at the show, which means Cutler likely used the phrase “If I’m going down, you’re going down with me” a few times Monday.

Either JC is a big fan or he’s a fan of BIG Kelly:
