Jauronimo!!! Bills Fire Dick Jauron

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

It just goes to show that nice guys finish last or at least not first.  Dick Jauron’s run with the Buffalo Bills came to an end today as he was let go after a 3-6 start.   In four seasons with the Bills, Jauron led to the Bills to a 24-33 record.  The Bills haven’t been to the playoffs since 1999, the longest streak for a non-expansion team. Bears fans will remember the stone-faced Jauron from his days in Chicago.  Nice guy.  Solid guy.  Just not the guy to take your team to the Super Bowl.  Or the playoffs.  Here’s what [...]

Bears Get Back to Work

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It’s back to work for me and the Bears.  I have to admit, it was a much needed Sunday off after a maddening stretch of games. Orlando Pace got checked for a concussion today.  In case you forgot, the game was last Thursday. Al Afalava and Zack Bowman returned to practice while Desmond Clark, Garrett Wolfe and Kevin Payne did not. It was a rough weekend for ex-Bears.  Kyle Orton injured his ankle and is questionable for next Sunday while Cedric Benson had to leave in the 2nd quarter with a hip injury.  The Benson injury isn’t believed to be [...]

Grossman Defends Cutler

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

As if a 5 interception night last Thursday wasn’t bad enough for Jay Cutler, now he’s getting an unlikely person coming to his defense – Dan Grossman.  Yup, Rex Grossman’s dad jumped to the beleaguered quarterback’s defense.  Here’s a snippet from Fred Mitchell’s piece: “What’s amazing to me is, here we go again with Jay Cutler,” Grossman said. “He came in and he was going to be the franchise quarterback and lead the Bears. I heard some people say they were going to the Super Bowl this year. There was a lot of Cutler-mania going on in the preseason and [...]

Bud Adams and Ditka: (Flipping)Birds of a Feather

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Tennessee Titans scored a big win against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but it was a costly W for Titans owner Bud Adams.   You see, Bud wanted to salute Buffalo fans from his luxury suite, the we’re #1 salute of the double barreled variety.  His gesture cost him a tidy $250,000.  Yes, you read that right – $125k for each finger.  WOW!  In case you haven’t seen the video – check it out: Ironically, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had been in Adams’ box earlier that day.  The 86-year old owner made this public comment: “I need to apologize for [...]

Bart’s Best – Week 10 Top Plays

AUTHOR: | IN: Top Plays, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

(Cue the music)  “Mama said they’ll be weeks like this, they’ll be weeks like this Mama said (Mama said, Mama said).”  Ouch!  Okay, no more picking 5 games (last week – 1-4).  I knew last week when I did that there was an uneasy vibe in the air.  A couple of thoughts:  Bears are bad and they proved it again last night.  I have to stop picking on Dallas – that was a solid win in Philly, although I was under the impression that Westbrook was going to play – he is a difference-maker.  I guess New Orleans can’t win [...]

Jay Cutler fined $20k for “abusive conduct”

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The NFL has been re-stocking their coffers, doling out some juicy fines over the last few days. Chad Ochocinco’s $1 bribe to an official cost him $20,000 more.  Tommie Harris dropping a Deuce (Litui)?  $7500. Just to add a little insult to injury, Jay Cutler has been fined $20k for “abusive conduct” toward the referee in last Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Here’s ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s tweet: Jay should be fined for abusive conduct toward Bears fans and the game of football, because his 5 INT night last night in the Bears 10-6 loss to the 49ers set modern [...]
