Ron Turner Is Still Bad – Bear Dawn (12/31)

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ruh-roh. Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune took an in-depth look at Cutler’s stats in and out of the pocket this year. As we know, Cutler feels more comfortable and has made some huge plays outside of the pocket. The main point of the article? Originally, Ron Turner met with Cutler and was focused on moving the pocket. Problem is, we have horrible offensive linemen who couldn’t adequately block, and thus had to steer away from the plan. Jerry, Lovie, and Ron: Go away.  Speaking of Lovie, check out this post from my guy smudgers on the many, many faces [...]

Bears’ Briggs Named to Fifth Straight Pro Bowl

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Even though the Bears post-season hopes have been dashed, Lance Briggs will be heading to Miami after all.  Briggs was selected to his 5th straight Pro Bowl and will be the lone Bears staerter. This year, the Pro Bowl will be played the week before the Super Bowl in Miami, the site for Super Bowl XLIV.  This bit from Vaughn McClure’s bit on Breaking Chicago Sports: “You’ve got to take some positives out of what’s going on right now,” Briggs said during a phone interview on “Chicago Tribune Live.” “I’m just real happy right now. Because we didn’t have the [...]

Did Cutler flip the Bird to booing fans

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

With the Bears securely nestled in what was sure to be a safe 16-0 margin at halftime, the Bears decided to take a knee to end the half.  Frustrated Bears fans let the boos fly.  What more do you expect on a frigid Monday night during the disappointing season? I saw some reports that Cutler flipped fans the bird to the boo birds as he left the field.  I didn’t want to publish anything until we got some kind of evidence.  Well, check out the photo after the jump and decide for yourself.

Tillman and Knox likely out versus Lions, but injuries not serious

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears, Breaking News | COMMENTS: None Yet

A couple of scary moments during the Bears unlikely 36-30 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Johnny Knox had his leg folded underneath him on a kickoff return and had to be carted off.  Later, Peanut Tillman drew some friendly fire from teammate Craig Steltz that forced Tillman to leave the field on a stretcher and had to be taken immediately to the hospital. Early reports indicate that both players will be OK, but it’s unlikely that you’ll see either of them in the season finale against the Lions. Knox has an ankle sprain that might get Juaquin [...]

Bears Upset Vikings, Saints Clinch Top Spot in NFC

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

Try as they might, the Bears couldn’t squander a 16-point halftime lead to keep the Vikings in the mix for the #1 seed in the NFC.  Instead, they somehow they managed to hang on to pull off the 36-30 upset win and help the Saints back into home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Brett Favre led a second half Vikings comeback where he picked apart Lovie Smith’s Cover-2 defense to tie the game up on a last gasp 4th and goal play with under a minute to go in the game.  Had Izzy Idonije not blocked a Ryan Longwell [...]
