OC….What To Do, What To Do – Bear Dawn (2/1)

AUTHOR: Gavin Tugana | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’ve made my position abundantly clear on this site regarding the offensive coordinator gig – anyone but Mike Martz. I still stand by that. Don’t let the passage of three weeks cloud your judgment; not many liked Martz when this whole fiasco began, yet many are warming up to him just because he’s there.
Make sure to check out this article by Jeff Dickerson – excellent read.

Banned Gay Super Bowl Commercial Features Vikings and Packer Fans

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Earlier today I heard about a commercial from a gay (obligatory Seinfeld not that there’s anything wrong with it line) dating site that was rejected by CBS from airing during the Super Bowl.
Here’s the scoop from Chicago Breaking Sports:
Gay-dating site Mancrush.com claims CBS has rejected its proposed Super Bowl commercial because it features two men making out on a couch.
Mancrush.com spokeswoman Elissa Buchter told CNBC’s Darren Rovell that CBS said it was sold out of Super Bowl advertising time.
Rovell writes that as of Thursday, advertising time remained for the Feb 7 game. That raised the question of, if CBS is [...]

Bears Interview Martz

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Bears finally did what we’ve been expecting them to do since the offseason circus started -they brought in Lovie’s pal Mike Martz to interview for the vacant offensive coordinator position.
I have heard some rumblings on the radio from The Score’s own Terry Boers that Lovie wanted to bring in Martz right out of the blocks but GM Jerry Angelo vetoed him.  Was this just a bogus rumor?  Me no think so.
If Martz wasn’t being blocked by Angelo, why the wait to bring him in for so much as an interview?  Has Jerry been humbled to realize that no one [...]

Bears Interview Rogers, Cignetti Passes

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Bears interviewed Kevin Rogers for their forever-vacant offensive coordinator job on Thursday.  No, not the guy pictured at right, but if they hire Rogers you can bet there will be plenty of Gambler references forthcoming.  Word from inside Halas Hall is that if both sides  like what the other is saying, things could move quickly to hire him.   Stay tuned for any updates.
But with the potentially good news, comes more frustration.  Another potential candidate has withdrawn his name from consideration.  Pitt’s offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr. released this statement:
“My return to Pitt last year was the realization of a [...]

Time to Change the Pro Bowl

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The NFL is doing their level best to make chicken salad out of chicken shit when it comes to the Pro Bowl.  By moving the Pro Bowl to the week before the Super Bowl, the NFL is trying to increase the visibility and increase fan interest.  It’s not working.  The best players on the best teams  – in this case the Colts and Saints – have pulled out of the game.  This only adds to an already extensive list of players who pull out of the game with injuries both major and minor.
Let’s get this out of the way up [...]

OC Names For Bears Getting Worse – Bear Dawn (1/28)

AUTHOR: Gavin Tugana | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Wanna know how things are going south in the coordinator search?
The newest name, Frank Cignetti, is the OC at Pittsburgh. Oh, that’s right kids, we’re so desperate we’re raiding college programs.
Just wait….they’ll sign someone from the Colts or Saints, and then say, “We’ve been waiting for them all along.” Just wait, kids. I’m calling it.

Jackson Pulls Out, Leaves Bears with Egg on their Face

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Hue Jackson decided that he would rather go work for Al Davis and Tom Cable in Oakland rather than even interview here.   So goes the Great Coordinator Search 2010.  The Bears can’t even get guys to come in for an freaking interview.  It’s pathetic.
ESPN 1000’s Waddle and Silvy had Jackson on their show this morning.  Here are some choice excerpts:
“I’ve been to the Raiders and spent time with [owner] Mr. [Al] Davis and talking to [coach] Tom Cable,” Jackson said on “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000. “I had worked with Tom. We had worked together in college, [...]
