I did mean that about keeping Turner and getting rid of Angelo and Lovie, especially after the press conference. I have never been so down on the Bears, but I will hold my head high come next Sept, watch every game with passion and hope I am completely and utterly wrong about the state of the team I love.

An article for tomorrow's Bear Dawn (can't remember off the top of my head) implied that the Bears were focusing more on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. If that's the case, bring in Bates. Cutler loves him, and we all know it's not easy for Cutler to love anyone. I find that to be more critical, considering our complete ineptness on that this year. The last damn thing I want is for Cutler to get pissed and up-and-outta here. Because then we're really screwed. Not just kinda screwed, like we are now. Completely, utterly screwed.

As for the defensive side of things, I totally agree about Lovie's desire to stay in the Cover-2. He came off as incredibly defiant yesterday, and I don't feel good about his wanting to continue his defense.

Would you really have felt better if Turner stayed and Lovie/Angelo went? As I typed that, it would be the better alternative, but yikes. That's really saying something about the state of the Bears.

Bates would be a step in the right direction if that's what Jay needs, although I hear Bates is a huge fan of the bubble screen. Until I see a Bears offense that can successfully execute that, I will remain skeptical. The biggest problem is Lovie's desire to continue the Cover-2 scheme (or the Cover-Who scheme as I like to call it). I think the defensive coordinator is the more critical hire. Personally, I would have felt better if they kept Turner and fired Lovie and Angelo.

Probably. At the same time, had he lost against Minnesota and/or Detroit, I think he was gone automatically. I don't think the McCaskey's wanted to spend the money, but it sure sounded like they would've had we lost the last two. But, we didn't. And now we're stuck with three levels of incompetent management for at least one more season and possibly longer.

If Jeremy Bates is hired as OC, I'll feel a little better about yesterday's proceedings.

Gavin...point taken, but I firmly believe had Lovie only had 1 year left and there was no threat of a work stoppage, the Bears may have bought him out. I think the $$$ ultimately ruled the decision to retain Mr. Big Sandy.
