In fact, in his time as interim head coach in Buffalo, he was known to give teams 3-4 looks as well as his base Tampa 2. I personally think a coach who's willing to do that, is who I want coaching this defense. We know Lovie isn't changing the scheme, but he doesn't have to. What he needs to do is be unpredictable. Good QB's can shred the tampa-2. I think Fewell can help make the tampa 2 better, as well as, make our defense less predictable. As for OC, I think a young fresh mind like Bates would be ideal. I'm tired of all the St. Louis rejects. My feeling is Martz isn't working in the NFL for a reason. I'm just a fan so what do I know. My gut, however tells me that a Bates/Fewell combo might just be what we need to get us back in contention for a Super Bowl. It seems there needs to be a progression to these types of hirings and Bates seems to "fit" as a QB coach - at this time - at the NFL level.
