Jets Actions Speak Louder than Bears Words

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

“We play good defense and get off the bus running the football.”   Where have we heard that before?  Lovie Smith and the Bears like to claim that they run the ball and play defense, but not so fans.  How can you say that when you ranked 17th in total defense and a miserable 29th running the ball?  29th.  Out of 32 teams. This weekend take a look at a team that really lives up to the Bears’ formula – the New York Jets.   The Jets finished up the season ranked 1st in defense and 1st in rushing at just over [...]

Rob Chudzinski emerges as Bears’ latest candidate

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Rob Chudzinski – Come on down!!!  You’re the next contestant on The Great Coordinator Search 2010! As quickly as I can fire off the latest Bears coordinator candidate names, the quicker the candidates wind up elsewhere.   Chan Gailey: Bears offensive coordinator candidate one day, Buffalo Bills head coach tomorrow.  Mike Nolan: Bears’ defensive coordinator candidate today, Miami Dolphins DC… later that day.  That’s just the way this coordinator search will go with Lame Duck Lovie at the helm. “Chud,” as he’s called, is the Chargers assistant head coach/tight ends coach.  He served as OC for the Cleveland Browns for a [...]

Rick Morrissey Loses It – Bear Dawn (1/21)

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

A theme is starting to develop here…. Rick Morrissey decided that he needed to massage his ego and spit out this gem for us. Essentially, he blames the Bears for not hiring anybody and letting Jay Cutler have some input as to who the coordinator will be. Here’s a couple points for Rick to consider: 1) Jay should have input. This is his third offensive coordinator in as many years. Do it without his input and risk him getting Rex Grossman disease. Neil Hayes hits on this. 2) No argument about the Bears screwing up the numerous coordinators they could have [...]

Rick Morrissey Wags The Finger – Bear Dawn (1/20)

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Sorry for the lack of Bear Dawns lately, boys and girls. I come bearing gifts, however. Rick Morrissey penned a goofy article about the passing of Gaines Adams. To sum up what he’s saying: We viewed him as a football player, as a bad trade by Jerry Angelo, and then he died. None of us knew him, and that’s sad. What? Let me make this clear: I feel very badly that a seemingly healthy athlete, one that was only three years older than me, died. I really do. However, Morrissey misses the point: Sports are silly. It’s a method of escape. And for him to go to the “shame [...]

Mike Nolan Could Join Bears Defensive Coordinator Search

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Another possibility has emerged for the Bears in the Great Coordinator Search 2010.  Former Broncos defensive coordinator Mike Nolan is out on the street after “mutually agreeing to part ways” with Broncos boy genius head coach Josh McDaniels.  Nolan took the Broncos defense from 29th in 2008 to 7th in total yardage in 2009. Nolan most recently ran a 3-4 scheme in Denver, but he’s also worked with 4-3 defense as well.  Normally, such a wide departure from the Bears’ Cover-2 wouldn’t be considered, but since the Bears lost out on top candidate Perry Fewell, Lovie and the Bears may [...]

Chicago Bears Defensive End Gaines Adams has died, according to a report from Greenville, SC .  The Bears traded their upcoming second round draft pick last season to acquire the former 4th overall selection in the 2007 draft. This from Chicago Breaking Sports: The 26-year-old was reportedly taken to the emergency room at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood County where he died, County Coroner James T. Coursey told the Greenville News. Adams, a star at Clemson, was the fourth pick in the 2007 draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bears traded a second-round draft pick for him in October, [...]

Giants Add Fewell to the Fire, send Bears back to drawing board

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

You can officially end the Perry Fewell watch, Bears fans.  It was officially announced by the Giants, complete with this quote from Fewell himself: “I am ecstatic to come to work for the New York Giants. It’s a good football team with good defensive players, and it is a franchise known for defense.” Translation – Thank God there was another option out there so I don’t have to go to the Bears to be Lovie’s puppet.  I prefer to take a job with more stability than the rickety house of cards that the McStooges offered. Time to start combing the [...]
