The Bears need some help at safety. Antre Rolle is a safety. He’s going to be released by the Cardinals. Make the connection.

Tomlinson and Westbrook Not Right for Bears

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

‘Tis the season to go picking through other peoples’ trash.  Coming off a down year, with limited draft picks and even less desire to spend money, the Bears ain’t too proud to beg.  Guys like Ladanian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook were recently cut by their respective teams and pundits in every corner of the interwebs want to find a new home for these guys.  My suggestion?  The retirement home!
Don’t get me wrong – Tomlinson and Westbrook were among the best in the game and would be in the any decent all-decade team for the 2000’s, but I just don’t think [...]

Johnny Knox is MENSA’s Newest Member – Bear Dawn (2/25)

AUTHOR: Gavin Tugana | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Here’s a telling (but hilarious) quote from Johnny Knox.
Per Larry Mayer:
Q: What was the most unusual thing that happened while you were being interviewed by a team?
Knox: “One coach tried to get me to learn part of his team’s offense in 10 minutes. I felt like you couldn’t judge me on trying to learn your playbook in a 10-minute span.”
Unfortunately for Johnny, it took him the majority of the year to learn to run straight and fast.

Peppers, Kampman on Bears’ Wish List?

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

NFL.com is reporting that the Bears may be readying to make a run at a big name free agent defensive end such as the Panther’s Julius Peppers or division rival Green Bay’s Aaron Kampman.
Defensive end is clearly a position of need for the Bears.  With Adewale Ogunleye headed to free agency himself and the tragic passing of Gaines Adams, the Bears are left with Alex Brown and a handful of projects.
Last season the Bears tallied 35 sacks and struggled to get a consistent pass rush without blitzing.  That certainly weakened the much maligned Cover-2, which is predicated on getting pressure [...]

Bears should Rolle the Dice

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: Bears, Free Agency, NFL, News | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to release free safety Antrel Rolle, who is owed a $4 million roster bonus next week and a whopping $12 mildo next season.  With Adrian Wilson already one of the highest paid safeties in the league, Rolle could be the odd man out as the Cards don’t want to spend too much on one position group.
The National Football Posts’s Matt Bowen thinks Rolle would be a great fit for the Bears.  I couldn’t agree more.  The defense has been on the decline since the Super Bowl and you could point to many reasons why, but [...]

Shocking: Bears will raise ticket prices in 2010

AUTHOR: Boomer | IN: Bears, Breaking News | COMMENTS: None Yet

It should come as a surprise to no one that the Bears will be raising ticket prices in 2010.  This nugget from Chicago Breaking Sports:
As expected, the Bears announced a hike in ticket prices in some areas of Soldier Field on Friday, marking the eighth time in the last nine years the franchise has raised prices in some form.
There will be no price increase for approximately 25 percent of the seats, the team said, with those seats being in the 400 level and the west grandstand. Non-club seat increases range from $2 to $17, and club seats will be raised [...]

BGO iPhone App – Bear Dawn (2/19)

AUTHOR: Gavin Tugana | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

I waited a little bit to shamelessly plug, but now that I’ve used it for a couple days, I feel more strongly than ever that if you have an iPhone, you should download the Bear Goggles On app. If you have an iPhone, you know how some apps have good ideas with a really poor layout.
This app is much different. It’s laid out nicely and is clean, which is something some apps can’t figure out. Check out this screen shot:

If you check Bear Goggles On for your Chicago Bears fix, make sure to download the FREE app!
