The Tribune’s Vaughn McClure is reporting that Julius Peppers will visit the Bears at Halas Hall on Friday. No team was allowed to have contact with Peppers until the free-agent period officially began at 11:01 p.m., but Peppers had a strong interest in joining Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, and Tommie Harris on the Bears’ defense. The Bears were the first team to call Carey and extended a “substantial offer” that was good enough to get Peppers on the plane. It looks like there might be some validity to the Greg Olsen trade rumors.  NBC 5 Chicago’s Peggy Kusinski claims that the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots are potential trading partners: Friends of the Bears TE say he was not happy about the hiring of offensive coordinator Mike Martz and quietly sent his agent Drew Rosenhaus into “trade request” mode.
