I read something about how Harris might have been on the outs with Carolina, but he is still the best strong safety on the Bears regardless of his status with the Panthers.

Jamar was probably the 5th best linebacker on the Bears, so it's not like we gave up a lot in the deal. This could be one of those rare deals that actually helps both teams.

Did you guys see the response from the Carolina papers? They're saying Harris was going to be let go, because they have two other safeties who were better. The take on the trade was that Carolina brought in a backup LB for a soon-to-be backup Safety. I don't know if that was true about Harris, but I think he's a big improvement and agree with Decon about putting guys in the right spot. I also think Carolina's gonna be very happy with JW.

City,

I think the defense has improved with the addition of Peppers, Harris and Major Wright. But let's face it - this team will rise and fall on the arm of Jay Cutler and the offense.

After the season ended, what were the Bears' top needs? O-line and Wide Receiver were among them and neither of those positions has been addressed.

If JC can thrive in Mike Martz's system (and when I say thrive, I actually mean survive), the Bears should be improved.

City...I am not sure about better YET, cuz we gotta see the rookie play first and see if Peanut is back to being Peanut...I can guarantee this though, before the snap of the ball, I bet Harris has the DBs in the right spot, which I think was a big problem last year. Having an experienced safety calling the shots will be somethng the Bears have been lacking since Brownie left and I think that will make a HUGE difference this year.

Funny post Boomer! Well, I have to hand it to them. This is a good trade.

Let me ask you a question (that I'm going to steal from one of the Chicago radio guys yesterday): Is this year's Bears a better team than last year's team? With this trade and the draft of Major Wright and a year of experience under Zach's belt and (hopefully) Charles is a little healthier... we can say that the secondary is definitely better!
