I guess it’s only fitting that with all of the talk about the Patriots need for a tight end and the Bears trying to move Greg Olsen to get into the 2nd round that that Pats would select a tight end in the second round. The cherry on top? New England traded up into the spot that would have belonged to the Bears had they not made the Gaines Adams trade. The Patriots selected Rob Gronkowski, the 6’6″ 264 lb tight end out of Arizona, considered one of the top tight ends in this draft class. So much for moving [...]
Could the Bears use a Linebacker to Trade Up?
As I just pointed out last night in my Fearless Prediction, Jerry Angelo will get an itch. Brad Biggs suggests how he may attempt to scratch it - that the Bears could trade out of a position of strength to try to move up in the draft. Unlike many reports about trading Greg Olsen, this speculation is around the other side of the ball. There is a feeling in the locker room that the Bears could consider trading one of their linebackers to recoup a draft pick. What a veteran linebacker would bring in return isn’t clear right now. The [...]
Top Safety Prospects Still Available
The Bears might have lucked out a little bit on the first night of the draft, with only two safeties getting selected, with Eric Berry going 5th to the Chiefs and Earl Thomas going to the Seahawks at #14. That leaves plenty of top choices still on the board. Here’s a list of the top safety prospects: Mays, Taylor FS 6’3″ 230 Southern Cal Allen, Nathaniel FS 6’0″ 207 South Florida Burnett, Morgan SS 6’1″ 209 Georgia Tech Jones, Chad FS 6’2″ 221 LSU Wright, Major FS 5’11″ 206 Florida Jones, Reshad SS 6’1″ 214 Georgia Asante, Larry SS [...]
Fearless Predictions for the 2010 Chicago Bears Draft
With Round 1 in the rearview mirror, it’s time for the Bears to get busy. Hopefully the Bears spent the night turning over every stone to make the most of their 5 picks. Here are my Fearless Predictions for the 2010 Chicago Bears Draft: No matter who they take and when they take him, this will be the player the Bears targeted all along. They will be shocked that he fell to them where they drafted. They will love his athleticism. They will believe that he can contribute immediately. They will at least attempt to trade down. Jerry Angelo likes [...]
Will Bears Trade Up in Draft? Not Likely Under Angelo
In case you’re thinking Jerry Angelo and the Bears will pull off a draft deal to move up to grab a safety, history is against it. Thanks to the Trib’s Brad Biggs, here’s the Bears’ draft deal history under Jerry Angelo: The Bears have traded up only once in their last eight drafts. Jerry Angelo has traded picks for picks on 10 occasions and moved up only one time. A look at the list of Angelo trades involving draft picks. Key: 2-49 indicates 2nd round, 49th overall pick 2009 with Seattle: 2-49 for 3-68 (DL Jarron Gilbert), 4-105 (DL Henry [...]

Chicagoan Bulaga Ends up a Packer!
The Green Bay Packers selected Chicago kid Bryan Bulaga with the 23rd pick in the NFL Draft. The 6’5″ 315 lb. Bulaga hails from Crystal Lake, IL where he attended Marian Central Catholic High in Woodstock, IL before going on to star at Iowa. Growing up in Chicago, this has got to be his worst nightmare. We wish him well, except when he plays his hometown team.
Broncos Parlay Bears Pick from Cutler Trade
The Broncos have had a busy draft night and we’re barely halfway through the first round. They took the #11 pick that belonged to the Bears and traded down two spots with San Francisco, who took OT Anthony Davis. When they came up again at #13, they traded again, this time with the Eagles. Here’s the breakdown from Yahoo Sports: The Broncos owned the 11th pick to start the draft and swapped it with San Francisco for the Niners’ No. 13 overall selection. They parlayed that pick into the Eagles’ No. 24 and Philadelphia’s two third-round picks, Nos. 70 and [...]
