Boyd needs a life.

Why should anyone get hung up on criticism... are we so invested in Peppers before he plays a single snap for us?

I believe he is talented, but football requires 11 men executing a scheme. That is the part of our equation that I fear, not Julius.

Mark Anderson is unfortunately the key to that success. I remember not so long ago when our team leader (Jones) was removed to make way for failed potential (Benson). Will the loss of Alex Brown make that analogy new again? Groundhog day, Lovie style.

Please Bear Downers, take it easy and let it play out. The pundits only report the vision everyone has who hasn't enjoyed Larry Mayers Kool aid. Good thing about football is that they still have to play the games and we'll all hope for the best until about mid season. I'd settle for the offense showing continued spark.

Then we'll have real hope. The dusk of the Lovie/Jerry era will be our best case scenario long term and we may actually have some draft picks in the future.

the comment clear and concise and to the point is BS. This person has obviously not watched enough of Peppers to make a informed decision. I watched him for three years at UNC and every Sunday for the Panthers on FOX. A sophmore defensive end at UNC, Robert Quinn (rising junior) broke Peppers 40 time at 4.5 (Peppers was 4.55 at 6′7, 283) Quinn is 6′5, 270 and first team all acc along with Derrick morgan of GT (who was drafted 4th I think) Carolina produces great LB’s and Defensive lineman. Unfortunately not many good offensive players. This year will be no exception. Pro scouts list 7 sure fire 1st or 2nd round D players. The receiver Hakeem Nicks for the Giants had a great rookie year even with injuries. He lead the NFL preseason with 30yds per catch on 9 catches. He was avg almost 20 yds a game during the regular season until he got hurt. Still he caught 47 passes at 17 yds per catch and 6 TD’s. Back to Peppers, he had one bad season and that was three years ago with 2 sacks–no explanation from him or the Panther organization. The next two years 14.5 and 10.5 (with broken wrist). He had 1 TD interception against Zona. He also had a year in which he intercepted 3 passes with an avg of 70 yds per int (most of it on a 97 yd from the end zone). The same year against the Falcons he returned a fumble 60 yds for a TD, did not see Vicks 4.3 catch him. Watch someone before you belittle their game. If you are a Bears fan I think you will be greatly surprised concerning his abilities. Last thing he also brings a 37″ vertical.

Peppers is better than any of the players you listed. Five pro bowls in eight years. Ask Jared Allen who is the best. He is honest and a great football player. My recollection is that he called Peppers the best D end in football. Ask the Vikings all Pro tackle who took himself out last year when Farve was taking a beating from Peppers. As for 10.5 sacks not bad for playing four games with a broken wrist, where he recorded no sacks, but played every game. The year before 14.5 sacks. He runs from one side of the field to the other to make tackles. Is he worth 20 mil, no, no defensive player is but he comes the closest. Freeney has been consistent and he and Jared Allen are just behind him. Mario Williams needs more cosistency. Ware has a couple of good years so lets not get carried away yet. Peppers is the best defensive end in football and will show it in Chicago this year while compiling 15 sacks. He will also draw double teams to help out teammates. He does not talk about himself like T.O. or others, just plays. Writers need to get off his damn back.
