Bears Want What The Blackhawks Achieved, But….

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

As we all could’ve expected, the Bears were excited about the Blackhawks victory. Many voiced the same theme: We want to do the same. The Bears took out an ad in the Chicago Tribune to congratulate the Blackhawks and, seemingly, remind people: “Hey! We’re still here!” What sparked my intrigue was this quote from Brad Maynard: “I wouldn’t say I got quite as emotional as Jeremy Roenick did, but I felt what he felt. It’s the kind of feeling we would get if we won the Super Bowl. You couldn’t help but sit there and think that. It’s happening here [...]

Bears Fans Get Screwed in the Parking Lot

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears, Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I saw these articles a couple of days ago, but got swept up in Blackhawks fever and didn’t get a chance to post these.  By the way, did I say “CONGRATULATIONS BLACKHAWKS!” yet? The Bears did.   OK, on to other business. Bears fans will be getting screwed in the parking lots surround Soldier Field this season.   First, we get the news that the Chicago Bears will be offering alcohol-free tailgating in the upcoming season.  This from Cheryl Jackson’s Sun Times article: Teetotaling tailgaters with kids, there’s a now spot for you outside Soldier Field. About 100 parking spaces will be [...]

Congratulations Chicago Blackhawks – Stanley Cup Champs!!!

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks for bringing the Stanley Cup back to Chicago.  As a lifelong Chicagoan, I am immensely proud.  As a born-again Blackhawks fan, I am thrilled.  As a Chicago Bears fan, I am unspeakably jealous! It’s rare that championships make their way to Chicago, so hockey fan or not, savor this moment.  When my buddy Jeff sobers up, be sure to check out BlackhawkUp for some great hockey thoughts.

Lance Briggs Like Blackhawks – and Rod Marinelli Too

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

Lance Briggs hit the airwaves on Tuesday and chatted up ESPN 1000′s Afternoon Saloon.  Can you guess his favorite players?  Check it out from Vaughn McClure’s post on ChicagoBreakingSports.com: “My favorite is (Brent) Seabrook,” Briggs said, referring to the Blackhawks defenseman. “You know where I come from. I’m a defensive guy. … And he’s a comical guy as well. I’m also a big fan of (Marian) Hossa, too.” Those defensive guys stick together, huh?  And speaking of defense, Briggs really likes what newly promoted defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has in store for opposing teams next season.

Peppers and Cutler Among Fox Sports’ Most Overpaid

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Julius Peppers hasn’t even played a single down with the Chicago Bears, but he’s already ranked in the Fox Sports’ Top Ten… Most Overpaid Players.  That’s a bit rough, don’t you think?  Couldn’t Fox wait a season – like they did with Jay Cutler and his 26 INT’s – before adding him to this list? Peppers ranked the #7 most overpaid player in Fox Sports’ estimation.  Here’s what Fox Sports’ John Czarnecki had to say: Julius Peppers, Bears DE Yes, “Pep” can really look dominating at times, but his value of $20 million this season is truly a product of [...]
