Bears Must Make Themselves at Home in 2010

The road is a tough place to play in the NFL, probably more so than any other sport.  That’s why bookmakers usually give the home team3 points just for being at home when the figure out the lines for every game.

The Bears open the home portion of their schedule on Saturday against the Oakland Raiders.  Even though it’s preseason, it is a good time for the Bears to set the tone for the season.  If they Bears want to stand a chance at making the playoffs, they’ve got to be dominant at home.

Check out the Bears home schedule:

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 12 vs. Detroit Lions, 12pm

Week 3: Monday, Sept. 27 vs. Green Bay Packers, 7:30 p.m.

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 17 vs. Seattle Seahawks, 12pm

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 24 vs. Washington Redskins, 12pm

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 14 vs. Minnesota Vikings, 12pm

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 28 vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 12pm

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 12 vs. New England Patriots, 12pm

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 26 vs. New York Jets, 12pm

If they even want a chance to sniff the playoffs, they had better go 6-2 at home, especially when you consider they’ve got tough road dates at New York,  Dallas and Miami besides the usual trips to the Metrodome and Lambeau.

My buddy at BearsSTH is always touting the importance of 4th Phase and I’m telling everyone to get on board.  Bring your A game and get behind the team when you head out for games.
