Martz: Aromashodu’s Lack of Versatility Costing Him Playing Time

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Mike Martz explained why Devin Aromashodu had a limited role in Sunday’s 27-20 win over the Cowboys in his Q&A with ESPN Chicago’s Bears blog: Q: Why was Devin Aromashodu’s playing time so limited against the Cowboys? A: I don’t know if we need to justify any of those things to anybody. I would just say this and we’ll let this thing go: Devin is a bit of a specialist in that he doesn’t play the slot, which we asked him to do in the opener. He’s not comfortable in there. He’s not familiar with it. All four of our [...]

Aaron Rodgers Smashed by Julius Peppers (Video)

AUTHOR: | IN: Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

Mr. Rodgers, meet Mr. Peppers.  I believe you two met briefly when Mr. Peppers was with the Carolina branch. I wonder if Aaron Rodgers will be thinking about this hit from Julius Peppers when he drops back to pass or thinks about scrambling on Monday night?  Get ready for a whole lotta that!  The uniform may be different, but the result will be the same! BEAR DOWN!!!

Bears Identity Coming Into Focus

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

One of the most encouraging things to come out of the Bears’ 2-0 start and particularly their 27-20 win over the Cowboys, is that they’re starting to forge an identity.  With the influx of new coaches, coaches in new roles and some new high-priced players since the end of last season, it was really unclear what the 2010 Bears were all about. That uncertainty turned to panic as training camp couldn’t have gone worse for our Beloved Bears.  Miserable performance stacked on miserable performance, loss upon loss, we had a bad feeling that this team would struggle to get to [...]

“Da Bears” by Steve Delsohn – BGO Book Review

AUTHOR: | IN: Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

25 years later, when I think back to my college days, there are two important events that remain seared into my memory. The first was watching the ’85 Bears play Miami on Monday Night Football with my fraternity. 50-60 guys huddled together elbow to elbow around our “living room” tv (which was tiny compared to the wide screens we have today); Half of the “brothers” had adopted the Chicago Bears that year as their new favorite team and half of them were die-hard fans of other teams who were rooting against them. I still remember the pain of that loss, [...]

Classic Moments In Bears-Packers Rivalry: The Crazy Fan Catch

AUTHOR: | IN: Flashback | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

It’s Bears-Packer week, so it’s our pleasure to bring you this classic video from a Bears-Packers Monday Night game on September 11, 1995. This is probably the most amazing catch you’ll ever see.  Follow the flight of the ball as the PAT sails through the goal posts and into the crowd.  This guy is nuts!

Packers Jokes

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 31 Comments

It’s Packers week, so I thought it would be appropriate to re-post some old joke to get things going.  Enjoy and feel free to add your favorites in the Comments section… Shipwrecked A Bears fan, a Packers fan, and a Vikings fan get shipwrecked on an island and some natives take them to their king.  At first, the king plans to execute them, then, he decides to grant them one wish, twenty lashes on the back, and let them go. The Vikings fan wishes for a pillow strapped to his back. It doesn’t hold well during the whipping and broke [...]

The DeCon’s Week 2 Fantasy Football Wrap Up

AUTHOR: | IN: Fantasy, fantasy football, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Two weeks in the books, man, how time flies…coming off a 3-0 week with my squads and an impressive Bears victory over Dallas, I couldn’t be happier.  Let’s review Week 2 from the NFL: Jay Cutler is a tough S.O.B. and solid QB.  Sure, he was on my list of people I didn’t like last week, but I am damn glad sure I was wrong.  After nearly getting killed on the first 3 series of the game, JC and Martz adjusted (something we aren’t used to in Chicago) and produced results for the offense. Demaryius Thomas from Denver is going to [...]

At 2-0, History Says Bears Will Make Playoffs

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Clipped from: espn.go.com (share this clip) After a surprising win in Dallas over the Cowboys, the Bears are 2-0.  That’s where the good news starts.  As NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert points out, since 1990 64.1% of teams that start 2-0 make the playoffs.  That’s nearly 2 out of every 3 teams.  There are eight 2-0 teams:
