Thought I would pipe in here with some doom and gloom.

I don't think there's a need to worry about the Lovie extension just yet. The next few games are gonna be killers. The Bears need to beat Detroit, Minnesota and at least one of either the Eagles, Pats, Jets, or Packers. The question is: can they beat a good team? And I think the verdict is still out there. It's very likely that the end of this season is going to require some great gametime coaching, and we all know what that means.

I will say this, however: if Lovie and his coaching staff can get us to 11 wins, they absolutely deserve another season with the team.

I agree, especially with the Cowher/Gruden pipedream sentiment. I think Lovie is well on his way to saving his job but it's a little premature for extension talk. I think the bigger travesty is that Lovie may be saving Angelo's job. Provided things continue the way they have I can stomach more Lovie; however, I still doubt Angelo has any clue as to how to build this team into a perennial contender. Even though the defense is playing lights out right now the core of it isn't getting any younger.

while i will say, i have had a foot on the Fire Lovie bandwagon all year, can we really argue with the results to date? sure, i think he cost us the Washington game, by not challenging JC's TD, but JC throwing 4 picks to DeAngelo Hall did its fair share to solidify the loss too. while i am not advocating extending Lovie right now, if the Bears end up winning the NFC North, i wouldn't be dead set against it either. i think it is a pipe dream to believe the McCaskey's will be able to bring in a big name like Cowher or Gruden anyway...the fact is the defense has looked solid all season, say what you want about Lovie's Cover Who defense. and the offense seems to be starting to pull things together, especially on the offensive line. do we really want JC and our young WRs to have to learn yet another offense for the 3rd time in 3 years? i would like to see JC grow into Martz's system, because, let's face it, his system works with the right personnel and JC is a heck of a QB who is VERY early in his career. i think the needle is definitely pointing up for this team, so let's wait and see how the next 6 games pan out. if they can go 3-2 up to the final game vs GB, that game could be for the NFC North crown and that is where Lovie could earn his extension if we go north of the border and whoop some Packer A**!!!

Unbelievable.

The ghost of Dick Jauron and JOhn Shoop strike again.

God love Merrill Hoge, I believe he’s the last one out there still making excuses for the Ol’ Dongslinger’s wretched season…same refrain that’s always spouted when he gets all interceptiony again
It’s such a joy that he came back this year, if he’d retired after sweeping the Packers and being an OT away from the Super Bowl it would have been a nice capper but as it stands he had to stand there and watch Rodgers have his fun in the biggest romp they’ve ever had at the MetroDome

As bad as Grampa Favre has been, it's actually the Vikings D that has been most disappointing. Where has Jared Allen been? Where's that Williams Wall that no one can run on? Maybe Favre's outstanding performance last season covered up for an aging, crumbling defense.

I bet Lovie was surprised. After making it to the Superbowl his franchise has been in a nosedive and he still has a job. Always glad to see a former Bear get a shot at a coaching job, too bad its gotta be with the Vikings. Watching to Vikes fight on the sidelines Sunday was way more fun than watching the actual game.
