Bears Defense Dominates Dolphins Throughout 16-0 Victory
The Miami Dolphins offense led by third string quarterback Tyler Thigpen was no match for Julius Peppers and the Chicago Bears top ranked defense Thursday night. Thigpen was sacked six times, threw one pick and pretty much looked awful all game. To make matters worse for him, his top threat, WR Brandon Marshall, left the game after injuring his leg in the first half and didn’t return. That pretty much sealed the Dolphins fate, who failed to score a point all night and only mustered 187 yards of total offense. There were two things in the game that stood out, [...]
Drivin’ Deez Nuts: Forgetting Devin Hester
It was great to see Devin Hester back returning kickoffs for the Bears last Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. His 68 yard return in the 3rd quarter set up a Robbie Gould field goal that gave the Bears a 20-13 lead that they didn’t relinquish. Hester finished the day with 100 kick return yards and 47 punt return yards and was named NFC Special Team Player of the Week. My question is, why the heck did the Bears stop using him on kickoffs in the first place?
Bears vs Dolphins Blogger Exchange Program
We try to do a little exchange with the other bloggers on our network and Phin Phanatic took some time out of their busy, short-week schedule to answer a few of our questions. I returned the favor, so be sure to check back for my answers to his questions. Here’s our little Q & A: BGO: With the Chads (Henne and Pennington) out this week, Tyler Thigpen gets the call against the Bears. He’s not the usual clipboard holder that many #3 QB’s are. What can the Bears expect from Thigpen? PP: Your guess is as good as anyone else’s. [...]
The Last Time Devin Hester was in Miami…
Hey Bears fans, do you remember the last time Devin Hester lined up to return the opening kickoff of a game in Miami? Yup, Super Bowl XLI. Sit back and enjoy this memory and hope there is more of this to come on Thursday night.
NFL Flexes Bears vs Eagles Week 12 Matchup
The NFL has announced today that the game time for the Week 12 matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field will be flexed. The game, originally scheduled for 12:00pm CST on November 28, has been moved to 3:15pm CST. This comes after the Bears big win against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and the record-breaking performance by Michael Vick and the Eagles on Monday night, both wins moving the teams into a tie for first place in their respective divisions. While both teams currently stand at 6-3, most people will probably heavily favor the Eagles. The Bears do have a few [...]
Not So Fast Bears Fans – Bumpy Road Ahead
I was thinking about this yesterday as the buzz of the Bears 27-13 victory of the Vikings faded into the sobriety of preparations for the Miami Dolphins on a short week and it was affirmed in Mark Potash’s Sun Times article – what have the Bears really accomplished? The Bears beat the Vikings and it feels good – really damn good. Seeing Brett Favre turning into a doddering old man before our eyes is as satisfying as anything I can recall. The Bears beat another bad team on Sunday. Sure, it’s a division rival that had high expectations for a [...]
After all the long work, after all the tweaks and settings, the Mad Scientist reaches a point where it’s time to pull the switch, to unleash the lightning-infused energy and see if he can bring LIFE to his inanimate creation. The Mad Scientist can’t breathe, waiting to see if his creature stirs. He waits and he waits, desperate to cry out “It lives”! But does it truly live? It’s only when the Mad Scientist’s back is turned that the fingers twitch ever so slightly. The lucid Mad Mike Martz stayed with us this week. In fact, I would go so [...]
Glorious Victory – Bear Dawn (11/15)
That victory was phenomenal. Not only does it affirm some thoughts we had of this team (as a travelling band of gypsies that can’t figure how to do things consistently), but it was a victory for mankind. Why? I live in the Twin Cities. Since I no longer have live access to Boers and Bernstein, I’ve settled to listening to the sports talk up here. Granted, Patrick Reusse is a treat, but outside of that, we’re really struggling. And let me tell ya, they yammer on about the Vikings and how everyone else isn’t as good as them. Especially with [...]
