Lockout 2011 Day 1: NFL Players Union Decertifies, Owners Lock Out Players

After multiple extensions and over 2 weeks of federal mediation, the NFL Players Association walked away from the negotiating table before the 5 PM deadline to decertify as a union.  As the clock just struck midnight, the NFL owners kept their word and locked out the players.   Here are a few basic questions you might be asking yourself: What does decertification mean? Decertification means that the union no longer exists as a collective group. Why decertify? I received the following picture and comment from longtime guy and friend of the program Bryan regarding the Chicago Bears and Auburn standout quarterback Cam Newton: Boom, I thought that you’d like this pic–if you haven’t already seen it before. Ndamukong Suh Calls Bears Line “Over the Hill”

Olin Kreutz, Ndamukong Suh has a message for you – You’re Getting Old.   The Detroit Lions’ reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year called out the Bears offensive line. With Low Tender on Hanie, Who’s #2?

The Bears have been taking care of some loose ends including issuing a low tender offer on backup Caleb Hanie.  You remember him, right?  He was the Bears’ third string QB who nearly led them back in the NFC Championship game.   He was the third stringer who, unlike second stringer Todd Collins could actually, um, I don’t know, play professional football.
