Devin Hester’s #32 Ranking Creates Quite the Controversy

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

Clipped from: www.nfl.com (share this clip)   The NFL Network has been ranking the Top 100 players in the NFL, as voted by their peers.  The Chicago Bears’ Devin Hester was ranked #32, ahead of other Bears standouts Lance Briggs at #92 and Brian Urlacher at #49. Hester was humble as always in his ranking when calling in to the Reaction show on NFL Network after the 40-31 rankings were announced.  Check the video and Warren Sapp’s ill-fitting white jacket here.   Interesting nugget in that interview about Hester and fellow targets running with Jay Cutler three days a week, in [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Yesterday we touched on Brian Urlacher’s ranking just inside the Top 50 of NLF Network’s Top 100 list for 2011.  The followup discussion on NFL.com is really interesting, so I thought we’d share and discuss.  Is Brian Urlacher Hall of Fame-worthy? There are talking heads employed by NFL.com on both sides.  Here are the arguments for Urlacher: Vic Carucci, NFL.com On the contrary: Urlacher deserves Hall spot Urlacher already has established himself as a first-ballot Hall of Fame selection. Brian Urlacher Ranked #49 in NFL’s Top 100

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

In case you’ve missed it, NFL.com is filling lockout space by ranking the Top 100 players.  Actually, the list was determined by the players, so I suppose it means a little more with the selection coming from their peers.  The Chicago Bears’ Brian Urlacher was ranked #49 on the list, the second of four Chicago Bears to make the list.  Fellow linebacker Lance Briggs was ranked #92 a few weeks back. In case you haven’t seen it, give the video clip of Lovie Smith presenting Urlacher as #49 a spin by clicking here.   It’s pretty amazing that ‘Lach is still [...]

Tony Dungy Visiting Lovie Smith and Chicago Bears

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

If you’re staking out Halas Hall (and who isn’t?) and see former Indianapolis Head Coach Tony Dungy around 1920 Football Drive, don’t get overly excited, thinking a new regime is coming to the Bears.  Dungy will be meeting with former pupils Lovie Smith and Rod Marinelli for a little Cover-2 Jamboree.  Here’s Lovie on the visit: “We’re just going to talk football for a day,” Smith said. “There aren’t a whole lot of us still in our system who believe in it the way we do. We’re pumped up about him coming.”

Plaxico Burress Getting Out of Jail, Bears Should Enter Sweepstakes

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Could Plaxico Burress catch on with the Bears? Let the Plaxico Burress Sweepstakes get underway.  OK, we’ll have to wait until this stupid lockout ends and teams can start signing free agents, but besides that, Burress is getting out of jail on Monday and there is no reason that the Chicago Bears should not enter the sweepstakes to land the free agent wide receiver.

Worst Chicago Bears Moments Since 1987

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio listed the four worst moments in Bears history since the last work stoppage in 1987.  Before you finish asking yourself, “how do you narrow it down to just four?” check out this clip: Breaking sports news video. MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL highlights and more. Generally, I like Florio and think he does a decent job, but you have to ask, was this guy in a grunge-induced coma for the 90′s?  It’s the decade I refer to as the Dark Ages of Chicago Bears football.   Let’s consider that all of those lowlights are playoff games.  Expectations were high, [...]
