Richard Dent Goes Safe Route with Hall of Fame Presenter

Every God-fearing Bears fan knows that Richard Dent is going into the Hall of Fame in less than a month, although it appears the Bears will likely not be playing in the HOF game that weekend to participate in the festivities.  But did Dent get it right with his selection for his presenter?

As the first Tennessee State alum to enter the HOF, The SackMan has chosen his college coach, Joe Gilliam, to present him for enshrinement.  No offense to Mr. Gilliam who I am certain will deliver an outstanding speech, but, in the spirit of comic relief amid day 121 or whatever of the NFL lockout, I think good ole #95 could have made a better choice…check it out after the jump…

I apologize for the grainy video, but you know there is only ONE Steve “Mongo” McMichael…and Angel Hernandez can attest to that…

Anyone who knows me knows that next to Sweetness, Mongo is my favorite Bear of all-time.  Mongo was the epitome of the Bears in ’85.  He was tough, a fierce competitor and always a character.  He played 14 years in the league and many of them next to Hall of Famer Dan Hampton and Dent, who is going into the HOF.  Coincidence???  Maybe, but there is no doubt that Mongo made these guys better and vice versa.  He had a warrior’s heart when he played and he still relishes any chance to spin a yarn…check out these couple of video clips…

Could you imagine what Mongo might say on the podium in Canton if he was presenting Dent?  Maybe that’s why Dent went the safe route…

CAN I GET AN AMEN?!?!?!?!?!

The DeCon has spoken, so let it be written, so let it be done…
