I wouldn't suggest anyone give Forte the money Carolina did.... but 500, is pathetic for a back we depend so much upon.

If he's good enough to franchise at 7.5, he's good enough to earn 5 over 4 years extended... something along those lines.

I'll bet they are paying Barber more, that's gotta sting.

But if we don't figure out the offensive line, it really won't matter.

@flowermike He has a point... Forte hasn't had a pro year yet and Carolina is a desperate team going way out of the way to try to have a .500 season. Forte deserves to be paid no doubt, but we wouldn't be talking this "Superstar" pay if it wasn't for the dumb move by Carolina. $30 million I can see but have a 1500+ season rushing 1st before asking for starting pro bowl RB money 1st. But the deal needs to get done ASAP cause the last thing we need is a distraction with the schedule we have coming up. All I'm saying is Forte still needs to prove he's the best back before asking for that type of pay.

@flowermike Not sure I'd call it taking management's side Mike. I'm looking for a quick resolution to get Forte on the field and productive at a fair deal for both sides.

I watch the NFL to see the players, not the management. Forte has outplayed his rookie deal and deserves a raise. Angelo's line in the sand comment indicates that he's not offering Matt anything but a bargain.

Not sure how you can take managements position Boom. They've failed to address our glaring need, the o line. Linebacking core is thin, paper. Secondary talent is old, the kids have to develop themselves. Signed a free agent WR that isn't in shape. Demote our back up QB for a raw, late round rookie (??)

I'm not seeing any of these moves as positive. Forte played hurt an entire season and excelled his other two. Be fair to the man and find a compromise between stupid money and the Bears best low ball offer.

And now ESPN regards Daniel Manning as a budding Superstar.....

How much cap space do we have left?
