The DeCon’s Fantasy Football Picks for Week 3

AUTHOR: | IN: Fantasy, fantasy football | COMMENTS: None Yet

Week 2 in the books and I am still recovering from the BGO trip to New Orleans, so I am behind this week.  Aside from the game, New Orleans was great and hopefully Boomer will share some “edited” commentary on the trip that was.  Fortunately for me, my fantasy teams fared better than the Beloved in Week 2 as I dispatched with fellow BGO blogger, Bart, thanks to Vincent Jackson and Jeremy Maclin.  I am primed for my EPIC matchup against Boomer this week…I would like to say it will be a good game, but Boomer has limped into the season [...]

Bears vs Packers – Keys to the Game

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The Packers head back to Soldier Field for the first time since the NFC Championship game.  They’re off to a fast 2-0 start, beating the Saints on opening night and coming from behind to beat Can Newton and the Panthers while the Bears are coming off a rough loss in New Orleans last week after an opening home win against the Falcons. The Bears can’t afford to fall two games behind the Packers and still expect to win the division, so this sets up as a crucial game for the Bears.  Here are the keys to the Sunday’s 183rd meeting [...]

Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers Facts, Notes and Stats

AUTHOR: | IN: Game Notes | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Welcome one and all to Bears-Packers week!  It’s one of the game’s greatest rivalries and it’s coming to Chicago on Sunday afternoon.  The Cheeseheads are going to be bringing their wives, husbands, cousins…oh, wait, that’s redundant…well, either way, they’re all leaving their farms and heading down to Soldier Field.  You will be able to pick out the women because they will have mustaches bushier than Ditkas. Let’s hope the Bears O-line can hold up and Jay Cutler can put some points on the board.  A win could be just what the Bears need to give them some momentum in the [...]

Back to the Future: President Obama to Welcome ’85 Bears to White House

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Maybe the invitation got lost in the mail?  It only took 26 years but the World Champion 1985 Chicago Bears will finally be visiting the White House on October 7th according to CSN Chicago’s David Kaplan.  Their Super Bowl celebration was cut short just a couple of days after their 46-10 win over the Patriots when the space shuttle Challenger tragically exploded during takeoff, killing everyone on board. Most of the team and coaching staff are expected to attend.  I’m most interested to see how Da Coach, a well known Republican, interacts with the Democrat Obama.  Once upon a time, [...]

Early Injury Outlook Not Good for Bears

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears, Injuries | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Bears left New Orleans battered and bruised and after a few lingering injuries could really have an impact on Sunday’s huge game against the Packers.  Let’s take a look at the early injury report. Did Not Participate Earl Bennett Gabe Carimi Major Wright Limited Participation Marion Barber Roy Williams Chris Harris Lance Louis It looks like some the preseason and Week 1 injuries and getting closer to participating and that’s a good thing.  Chris Harris told Waddle and Silvy that he was ’50/50′ to participate and I’m hoping that he’s good to go.  It would be nice to see [...]

Bears’ Deliver a Common Message and It’s Not a Good One

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

After an off day on Tuesday, the Bears were back out in force to kick off Packers week with a multitude of interviews.  As I read through some of them, I saw a common theme.  See if you can pick up on it. First we get Jerry Angelo, regarding the offensive line: “We trained them. They’re ours. They’ve got to step up and get it done. It’s that simple. You don’t like to play musical chairs at any position, but that’s particularly true on the offensive line. You want to keep those five guys the same week-in and week-out. “They [...]

Jay Cutler’s Rough Week 2 – Create a Caption

AUTHOR: | IN: create a caption | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

It was a rough Week 2 for Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears, but mostly Jay Cutler.  It’s only fitting to put up this photo of Cutler and quarterbacks coach Shane Day (yes, that’s what Shane Day looks like and yes, the Bears have a quarterbacks coach) taken during the game.  In case you’re new to this, it’s pretty simple.  I provide the picture, you provide the witty and funny captions.  Have at it!

Chicago Bears Week 2 Report Card

AUTHOR: | IN: Game Notes | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

The Chicago Bears were sent to detention by the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, dropping their record to 1-1 on the season.  There were very few bright spots for the Bears, but there was a lot to learn from.  The offense looked like they forgot to study, and the defense was schooled by Drew Brees to the tune of 270 passing yards and three touchdowns.  I’ve had time to look over the effort turned in by the Bears and here are some grades.
