Jay Cutler’s Special Message to Mike Martz – F**k You!
The NBC cameras – or the parabolic field mic to be more precise – caught Jay Cutler offering a special message to the sidelines. Watch the video and see if you can make out what Jay is saying:
What do you hear when you roll the tape? To me it definitely sounds like Jay says, “Tell Martz F*ck you!” Others say they hear “Tell him F*ck you.” Either way, Jay is pissed and it’s pretty clear the target of his ire.
When head coach Lovie Smith was asked about it today, here’s the golden nugget we got from him:
"“I don’t think many guys were upset last night,” Bears coach Lovie Smith said. “You know those cameras? You have to be careful about those cameras and the access that you guys get now. Some things you don’t wanna know."
Ya Lovie, some things we don’t want to know. Like the truth. Aside from the 12-and-under crowd, most of us have heard the words and don’t pretend to be naive enough to think it’s all sea shells and balloons down on the field. Then again, Lovie’s idea of cursing is an occasional “Jiminy Christmas”.
A couple of takeaways from this:
- It’s clear that the bromance between Jay Cutler and Mike Martz has hit the skids. Is it beyond repair? Probably. But it will be critical to be at least a working relationship to keep the offense on the right track for the rest of the season.
- The Bears HATE when this type of stuff gets out. Hearing Lovie’s comments makes it certain that the Bears will NEVER be on Hard Knocks under this regime.
