I posted this on Chicagobears.com as well: "I'm personally starting the lobby now...BRING JEREMY BATES TO CHICAGO!!!! Cutler + Knox + Bennet + Sanzenbacher + Forte/Barber (utilized properly) = a Top 10 Offense...stipulation being when utilized right. Seattle surged well under Bates last year and probably would have picked up where they left off had he and Carroll not had "philosophical" differences on how to run the offense. BRING JEREMY BATES TO CHICAGO!!!! Cutler will return to his pro-bowl potential! I realize now how exceptional his ability is. The O-Line didn't improve as much as Jay made plays in/out of the pocket and created something out of nothing. Not to fully slam the O-Line, there was a string of games there when it looked like things were coming together. But I think looking at how quickly they've reverted, that that speaks more of Jay's ability to adapt and create space or a play than it does of their inconsistency. I'm starting the lobby and the campaign won't stop...BRING JEREMY BATES TO CHICAGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Where to start UCF?

Succinctly, of those you mention as successes, only Briggs, Peanut, Hester, Forte, Knox, and Bennett have contributed and are still playing for us over your 10 year sample.

Your free agent successes (?) include just Peppers, Gould and Cutler over that same period? My bad, Brandon A left for greener pastures when his play deserved pay.

The amount of underdveloped talent or current doghoused talent is considerably more telling. Add in the lost class of '07 and you're really stretching.

Our team is thin and aging. We've lost productive players and chose not to replace them. We sign unproductive free agents to deals, but can't afford to pay Forte. The only offensive coordinator that would accept the job offered jettisons productive players for a scheme unthinkable to a team whose self prescribed mantra is "get off the bus running". Our defensive coordinator is the only one that would take the job.

Where is Ron Rivera my friend? Was the Super Bowl loss a signal to stand pat? Did the acquisition of a franchise qb include a similar investment in the offensive line? Legit questions posed to a secretive organization. I have more....

Sorry boss, but I'm going to defend Lovie and Jerry. Sometimes I scratch my head and question the "moves" they've made or plays Lovie will call (2nd & 1, cross throw when Marion Barber had good momentum on the ground???). However, let's look at the talent they've brought in. Jerry hired in '01'/Lovies in '04'. Not all of the players named are still with the Beloved and some aren't even in the league anymore. But gauge the value they gave us when they wore Papa Bear's Orange & Navy

2001 - David Terrell, Anthony Thomas

2002 - Alex Brown

[F.A. – Brad Maynard]

2003 - Charles Tillman, Lance Briggs, Bobby Wade, Justin Gauge

[F.A. - Hunter Hillenmeyer]

2004 - Tommie Harris, Tank Johnson, Bernard Berrian, Nathan Vasher

[F.A. – Israel Idonije, Thomas Jones, Adewale Ogunleye]

2005 - Cedric Benson, Kyle Orton, Chris Harris

[F.A. – Brendon Ayanbadejo, Roberto Garza, Robbie Gould]

2006 - Daniel Manning, Devon Hester, Dusty Dvoracek, Jamar Williams, Mark Anderson

2007 - Greg Olsen, Garrett Wolfe, Corey Graham

[F.A. – Anthony Adams, Nick Roach]

2008 - Chris Williams, Matt Forte, Earl Bennett, Craig Steltz, Zack Bowman, Kellen Davis

[F.A. - Devin Aromashodu, Caleb Hanie, Brandon Lloyd,]

2009 - Henry Melton, D.J. Moore, Johnny Knox (5th Rd that came with the Cutler trade), Lance Louis

[F.A. – THE JAY CUTLER TRADE]

2010 - Major Wright (more consistency and I think this 3rd Rd'er will be good value)

[F.A. – Acquiring JULIUS PEPPERS]

2011 - Looks good so far, but we'll need at least a full season for fair evaluation

[F.A. - Same for the free agents as rookies]

*Minus Roy Williams. I.E. the man that Martz said will have 70-80 catches this year, actually production thus far 24 receptions for 335 yards. With 5 more games to go Roy will need 46 catches to make 70 rec and 665 yards to make 1000. That averages to 133 per game for the home-run stretch…I won’t hold my breath.

Johnny Knox thus far 28 rec for 622 yards. Johnny needs 378 yards to make 1000 over the next 5 games. All he has to average is 75.6 yards a game, very doable.

- Last year Knox had 51 rec for 960 yards. Williams had 37 rec for 530. There’s a head scratcher most of us agree on. We passed on Sims-Walker and Burress for Williams? I’m fine with no one wanting Walker or Burress, but I think we’re agreed there’s no justification for Williams thus far.

I didn't name everyone that this staff has brought in or coaches they've hired, but I'm not ready to throw out the baby with the bathwater. By all means, let's discuss the merit of those named and bring up others you feel have contributed to the Bears success and/or failure.

*Ding, Ding, Ding* LET THE DEBATE BEGIN!

In friendly fan-to-fan dialogue of course :)

@flowermike Sorry boss, but I'm going to defend Lovie and Jerry. Sometimes I scratch my head and question the "moves" they've made or plays Lovie will call (2nd & 1, cross throw when Marion Barber had good momentum on the ground???). However, let's look at the talent they've brought in. Jerry hired in '01'/Lovies in '04'. Not all of the players named are still with DA' Bears and some aren't even in the league anymore. But gauge the value they gave us when they wore Papa Bear's Orange & Navy

2001 - David Terrell, Anthony Thomas

2002 - Alex Brown

[F.A. – Brad Maynard]

2003 - Charles Tillman, Lance Briggs, Bobby Wade, Justin Gauge

[F.A. - Hunter Hillenmeyer]

2004 - Tommie Harris, Tank Johnson, Bernard Berrian, Nathan Vasher

[F.A. – Israel Idonije, Thomas Jones, Adewale Ogunleye]

2005 - Cedric Benson, Kyle Orton, Chris Harris

[F.A. – Brendon Ayanbadejo, Roberto Garza, Robbie Gould]

2006 - Daniel Manning, Devon Hester, Dusty Dvoracek, Jamar Williams, Mark Anderson

2007 - Greg Olsen, Garrett Wolfe, Corey Graham

[F.A. – Anthony Adams, Nick Roach]

2008 - Chris Williams, Matt Forte, Earl Bennett, Craig Steltz, Zack Bowman, Kellen Davis

[F.A. - Devin Aromashodu, Caleb Hanie, Brandon Lloyd,]

2009 - Henry Melton, D.J. Moore, Johnny Knox (5th Rd that came with the Cutler trade), Lance Louis

[F.A. – THE JAY CUTLER TRADE]

2010 - Major Wright (more consistency and I think this 3rd Rd'er will be good value)

[F.A. – Acquiring JULIUS PEPPERS]

2011 - Looks good so far, but we'll need at least a full season for fair evaluation

[F.A. - Same for the free agents as rookies]
