I agree with you 100%. Even with Jay back there at time we looked a little suspect in the QB/ Reciever position. I believe Jay is a great QB; but, not only do we need a solid backup qb that can keep you in the game if your starter goes out, we need WR depth. Are reciever core isnt bad but we need a stud or two to really compete and to take a bit of pressure of Forte. We really shoud start looking at Enderle to see if he can fil that spot and what better oppurtunity than now. McCown will retire again if we dont mathematically get lucky so then what...if the BEARS start of next season on a bad foot i believe the whole coaching staff will change for 2013 season. The Chicago Bears teamhas been around since the 20's there is not reason for us to be a mediocre team..we should be the NFL Yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing with Hanie is there is a difference between being thrown into the fire without warning (i.e. NFC Champ game) and knowing you are the starter of next week's game. I've seen it hunderds of times in my own athletic career - guy comes in off the bench and plays at a level that makes people wonder why he was not previously starting. Then you move him to the starting lineup and he pisses down his leg.

As for McCown - I'm tired of the 'he fits the system' talk from coaches. Is it important...yes. But I would take a guy that has the apptitude, attitude and mental toughness to play the game seven days a week over the guy that has the 'deer in the headlights' look but knows the system.

The QB situation points to the same issue we have been aware of...the Bears have done an absolutely poor job of brining in and developing talent!
