Boom, you should have given three choices - Yes, No and HELL NO! All finance guys are worried about is the bottom line(sorry to all you $$$ guys out there but it is true). It is not too far-fetched in the NFL that the head coach is retained and the new GM will make the decision on them. That is ocurring in Indy and Oakland right now. Of course the Bears are not doing that.

The first and foremost reason the Bears have come out with their stipulation of keeping Lovie was because they don't want to pay him $11MM over the next 2 years to not coach. There are secondary reasons about having the right personnel to play a new defensive scheme and all but that is a post for another time.

This GM needs to be hired by George McCaskey and his contract should not expire in the same years as Lovie's. If this all goes south in 2012, George can then get rid of Lovie and let this new GM pick his own crew. I've got to hope that this new GM will be told that Lovie is on a "playoffs or else" leash for next season which will help in this guy thinking he is not hamstrung from the get-go. But Ted should be worried about getting a deal done to add seats to Soldier Field or what other fund to put all the McCaskeys money into. Personnel is not his Forte.(get it?)

The Bear orginization is the sole reason why the only football allegiance that I have is to my fantasy football team(s). I have ZERO confidence that Ted Phillips will hire the right GM. Angelo is/was quite possibly the worst GM, this side of Elgin Baylor, that has ever walked the sporting world and this move is about 5 years too late. Congrats again on your beautiful daughter, Boom!
