Cleared for Take Off: Forte Cleared to Participate in Pro Bowl

Matt Forte’s bum knee seems to be healing up nicely, so much so that he’s been cleared to participate in the Pro Bowl a week from Sunday.   He’s been rehabbing since he sprained his MCL against the Chiefs.  All along, he’s said he wanted to participate in his first Pro Bowl:

"After the season ended, Forte was clear he wanted to play in the Pro Bowl. He scoffed at the idea it would put him at risk.“The risk because of injury?” Forte said. “I mean, I could get injured walking out the door. The Pro Bowl, this is my first time making it, I want to go and be on the field. You can’t worry about injuries all the time.”Coach Lovie Smith gave him his backing.“If Matt wants to play in the Pro Bowl, I’m all for him,” Smith said. “It’s special when you get voted by your peers to go to your first Pro Bowl with the type of year he had, even missing the last (four) games. e has indicated to me he does want to play in it so good for him.”"

I admire Matt for wanting to play, especially since it’s his first time, but as an Unrestricted Free Agent, it’s a risky proposition.  Ask Robert Edwards who blew out his knee during a Pro Bowl beach flag football game.

Good luck to Matt and…
