I’ve been meaning to do this for a few weeks now, but the unexpected firing of Jerry Angelo (along with a new bundle of joy at home) have kept me busy.  Before the season, our staff made their predictions for the 2011 NFL postseason.  A couple of us are still alive with a potential Super Bowl winner.  We made some good picks and a few stinkers too.  Picking the Rams or the Cardinals to make the playoffs?  What were we thinking? Oh, you think you’re so smart?  Next season we’ll be inviting you to make your post-season picks.  Let’s see how smart you are 5 months later.

Let’s look at some of the highlights and lowlights of our Staff Picks, after the jump.

I hit on three of the six NFC playoff teams, missing on the Eagles, Cardinals and Cowboys and hit on four out of six AFC teams.   I still have the Ravens alive as my Super Bowl winner, so it should be no surprise who I should be rooting for this weekend.  Here’s a look at my picks:

Boomer

NFC Division Winners: Packers, Falcons, Cowboys, Cardinals

NFC Wild Cards: Lions, Eagles

NFC Championship: Eagles vs Packers

AFC Division Winners: Ravens, Texans, Patriots, Chargers

AFC Wild Cards: Steelers, Jets

AFC Championship: Steelers vs Ravens

Super Bowl: Ravens over Eagles

Our handicapping expert Bart totally nailed the AFC Championship game – Ravens and Patriots.  That’s why he’s the expert.  He had 3 NFC teams and 4 AFC teams.  Bonus points for getting the Giants in as the Wild Card.  Too bad his Bears pick didn’t come through.  Here are his picks, including the Ravens as his Super Bowl winner too.

Bart

NFC Division Winners: Packers, Eagles, Falcons, Rams

NFC Wild Cards: Bears, Giants

NFC Championship: Falcons vs Eagles

AFC Division Winners: Ravens, Texans, Patriots, Chargers

AFC Wild Cards: Steelers, Jets

AFC Championship: Ravens vs Patriots

Super Bowl: Ravens over Falcons

Decon connected on 7 playoff teams as well; it looks like we’re all pretty consistent there.  He still has the Pats alive as his Super Bowl winner.  Here are his picks:

DeCon

NFC Division Winners: Packers, Eagles, Saints, Cardinals

NFC Wild Cards: Bears, Falcons

NFC Championship:  Eagles vs Packers

AFC Division Winners: Patriots, Steelers, Texans, Chargers

AFC Wild Cards: Ravens, Jets

AFC Championship: Patriots vs Jets

Super Bowl: Patriots over Eagles

Last but not least we’ve got Deez, who also got 7 of the 12 playoff teams right but doesn’t have any teams left in Championship weekend.  Here are Deez’s picks:

Deez

NFC Division Winners: Packers, Eagles, Falcons, Rams

NFC Wild Cards: Bears, Saints

NFC Championship: Falcons vs Eagles

AFC Division Winners: Patriots, Steelers, Texans, Chargers

AFC Wild Cards: Jets, Ravens

AFC Championship: Steelers vs Texans

Super Bowl: Steelers over Falcons

What will next season hold?  Will the Bears be back in the picture or are they on the decline?  When two division rivals make the playoffs, it’s tough sledding to bounce back.
