I thought the press conference was sopt on. Didnt' divulge what "the press" wanted to hear. He essentially said I am going to do things a certain way, and that's it. I thought he was very professional and showed he was not afraid of the job. Getting rid of Ruskell was a great move, and shows that the McCaskey's are giving him some reign. I'm excited to see what they do with this 1st year as the window on the current team may be shutting.

Frankly, I'm liking Emery so far. Maybe it's too much wishful thinking or I've drunk too much of the kool-aide in the last 24 hours but this might turn out alright after all. I feared Emery was hired because of his familiarity with the Bears and vice versa and that the whole staff, especially Ruskell, would remain intact because everyone was buddy buddy. I was genuinely shocked to see one of the first moves of the Emery era was to send Ruskell packing. From the bits and pieces of the presser I've picked up so far he sounds like a strong personality looking to hold people accountable and to bring in guys because they are good at their job, not because they have a connection to someone with the team. Sounds like a departure from business as usual, which has kept me clinging to the thin shred of hope I have left the current regime can straighten up and fly right and accomplish something other than being mediocre. Of course this could all be lip service and the Bears could be in full-on panic/rebuilding mode in a couple of years, but my glass is half full for the moment.
