I Have no problem with this trade, I'm tired of hearing Briggs crying all the time. Both of these players are going to get to restructure their contracts. Briggs has three to four years left to play. Urlacher has maybe two left, if Lovie left so would Urlacher, he is not going to learn the 3-4 even though the Bears play a variation of the 3-4 why should he has nothing to prove.

I never understood all the anger at Briggs for his contract extension. It's as if people aren't watching the games.

THen he signed the extension and was unhappy quickly... maybe should be mad at himself because it's not a perenial pro bowler money deal. So the anger pushes to the "he signed a contract" mantra?

Now Phil wants to send him off for a wide receiver who has failed expectations?

Also, the idea that he doesn't want to play in Urlacher's shadow?

It's like you're all channeling Jim Irsay and searching for rationalization.

Bottom line is easy. Lance Briggs is an impact performer at a discount price. Big plays week in, week out. Sideline to sideline. It wouldn't be unreal to say that he's been our best player for 6 years. Yes, even with Urlacher.

But worse Gentlemen, you're all singing the company line and you know who wrote those lyrics?

Jerry fucking Angelo.

Like listening to Bush explain a war... you know you're being lied to.

Has Osi had reservations to Hawaii virtually every year? No.

There are so many holes on this team and adding in 100 some tackles and many for a loss is crazy.

+1 Phil_X I like that Miami idea even better! But I say draft picks. I do understand that with the ages of Tillman, Urlacher and Peppers our window is literally next year or bust :( But if we're building for the future then draft picks are the answer! I'd rather draft multiple times in the 1st - 4th rds and keep building for the future. I don't want to loose all of our money in Free Agency. Also, as much as Briggs is becoming a distraction I really will miss the tandem of him and Lach! But I sort of understand where he's coming from. He doesn't want to live in Urlacher's shadow for his entire career. Either way, Emery will get the right thing done for the team! BEAR DOWN!

I say send Briggs to Miami straight up for Brandon Marshall. I know, it won't happen, but I think you get rid of Briggs now while you still can get something for him. (Don't let Emeruy pull an Angelo like he did with Olsen). Briggs is obviously a pain in the ass, even as good as he is. I don't think the Giants trade happens either, but sure sounds good. But, as you mention, they need LBs and they need them badly.
