@mcrann1 The primary needs I’d like to see the Bears address in Free Agency are Wide Receiver and Cornerback. I think both of these positions would be bolstered by a veteran presence.

There is a care to be considered here in free agency, to not over pay, get the value. What are your targeted areas? Remember you can not get it all done in one year. Leave something that will show growth. So how do you pick a #1 when you need just about everything BPA best player available

Castoffs may more apply to Coleston who I think is more a product of the system. But I do think they could spend their money wiser in areas other the interior lineman.

They have bigger needs then a guard. Plan and simple. Putting a pro bowl guard does not fix the problems on the outside at tackle. That is the weaker part of the line. O tackle pass rusher and receiver are way more pressing then a guard

@Beardownone I wouldn’t think of it as Saints castoffs. They’re loaded and can’t afford to keep everyone. The Bears can take advantage of that. I’ve been skeptical of Colston, but he may be the best the Bears can get on Free Agent wide receivers.

@teejaysplace Are you telling me that we don’t need a Pro Bowl caliber offensive lineman, regardless of where he plays on the line? Did Chris Williams show you anything yet to show that he’s the answer at guard?

I think that Lovie is going to have to change his stance on paying for corners. He alluded to it when he spoke at the Combine; something to the effect of “you can’t keep putting 5’8″ corners on 6’5″ receivers.”

Disagree – interior offensive line is not an area of need for the Bears, and certainly not somewhere they should sink the type of money that Nicks will command on the open market. The players are young and lack experience together, but all played well – not exemplary, but well. If there are any holes on the O line, they are at left tackle, but at this point, it doesn’t appear to be an area the Bears are intending to address. Carr, on the other hand, might be worth exploring. The Bears are still not going to throw big money at a CB, at least while they are playing Lovie Smith’s defense, but depending on the market, Carr may prove to be a worthwhile investment for the money.
