What the Heck is Wrong with Brian Urlacher?

Brian Urlacher missed his 6th straight practice and has been absent from Bourbonnais for the last two days, excused for “personal reasons”.  What exactly are “personal reasons?”  What the heck is wrong with Brian Urlacher???  He sprained his knee back on January 1st against the Vikings thanks to a collision with Major Wright in the end zone.  Here it is:

It looked bad, but it was deemed a sprained knee and not as serious as first feared yet here we are in August and he’s still experiencing soreness and can’t practice.  Rumors are swirling from the Kankakee river valley to Lake Forest and everywhere in between that Urlacher’s “personal reason” for being excused from practice is actually seeing another doctor and getting a second opinion on the knee.

This isn’t the first time the Bears have miscalculated on a knee injury.  Raise your hand if you thought Gabe Carimi’s knee injury in Week 2 was a season ender?  Me neither.

While I have full confidence in Nick Roach, you have to wonder what the Bears staff and front office doing the entire offseason when all the linebacker depth they brought in was Geno Hayes.  You have to scratch your head that your 34-year old future Hall of Fame middle linebacker suffers a knee injury in January and is heading into a contract year and yet there’s no one groomed to take his place.  Is it Roach?  Is it McClellin?
