The Bears head into Day 3 with more needs than picks, with just three selections left, barring a trade to pick up some late-round value.   The good news is that there is still plenty of talent out there and Phil Emery can prove he’s the smartest guy in the room by making some smart late round choices.  Let’s look at the top players available at positions of need for the Bears.

Quarterback

Even though the Bears have Jay Cutler, he’s in the last year of his deal and they don’t really have a developmental QB to groom as a backup.  It’s hard to pass on the value of some of these prospects.  Barkley would have been a first rounder last season.

Matt Barkley, USC

Ryan Nassib, Syracuse

Tyler Wilson, Arkansas

Zac Dysert, Miami (Ohio)

Landry Jones, Oklahoma

Center

I’d love to see the Bears grab the versatile Barrett Jones and put him on IR to bring up as the successor to Roberto Garza.  Schwenke is a top talent that would compete for Garza’s job.

Brian Schwenke, Cal

Barrett Jones, Alabama

Khaled Holmes, USC

Wide Receiver

The Bears are looking for a burner to blow the top off defenses.

Ryan Swope, Texas A&M

Kenny Stills, Oklahoma

Cornerback

Despite having a pair of Pro Bowl performers, the Bears need to get younger.

Tharold Simon, LSU

Jordan Poyer, Oregon State

BW Webb, William and Mary

Terry Hawthorne, Illinois

The Bears could also look to add some depth along the D-line and another LB couldn’t hurt.
