We decided to do a countdown to the Chicago Bears season opener on September 8th versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Thanks to one of our Twitter followers, we decided to combine the countdown with a roster preview of sorts.

We’re just 10 days away from the start of the Bears regular season.  That’s Marquess Wilson days for those of you who have been paying attention.  For those who haven’t, let’s get to know the rookie wide receiver.

The Bears selected Marquess Wilson in the 7th round of the 2012 draft out of Washington State.  Wilson has much better talent than his late-round selection, but an issue with the coaching staff caused him to slide deep into the draft.  The Bears will gladly be the beneficiaries of his talent and clean up his attitude.

Jay Cutler may have tipped his hand about Wilson making the final 53 when he described how they’d bring him along.  With Earl Bennett still on the mend from a concussion and Brandon Marshall’s status a little less certain as he recovers from his hip injury.    He won’t make it through waivers, so expect him to make the roster.

If you want to look at #10’s of days gone by, I’ll give you a moment to go get a barf bag.  Here’s a sampling of #10’s, mostly awful quarterbacks – Nathan Enderle, Todd Collins, Kordell Stewart and Henry Burris since 2000.

We’re just 10 days away.  Are you ready???
