Bears vs Vikings: Inactives, Weather and Field Update

The inactive lists are out on this sloppy Sunday for the Chicago Bears vs Minnesota Vikings Week 2 matchup.

Bears Inactives: Marquess Wilson, C.J. Wilson, Michael Ford, James Brown, Jonathan Scott, David Bass and Zach Minter

For the Bears, this means Dante Rosario will suit up for the first time.  That’s no big surprise considering Marc Tresman said earlier this week that Rosario was expected to contribute this week.  It also means that the Bears are content to go with Eben Britton and Taylor Boggs as the swing linemen, with James Brown and Jonathan Scott both inactive.

Vikings Inactives: S Mistral Raymond, LBs Gerald Hodges & Michael Mauti, G Jeff Baca, DT Chase Baker, DE George Johnson and QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

For the Vikings, that means Kevin Williams will be starting for the first time this season.  He missed Week 1 against the Lions coming off a preseason knee injury.

The weather forecast calls for steady rain throughout the day on Sunday, so it figures to be a messy game.  Please spare me your “Bear weather” nonsense, because if anything the bad field conditions help level the playing field, so to speak, for the overmatched Vikings.

The Fighting Illini had their Chicago Homecoming game at Soldier Field yesterday evening, so the field is already a little banged up.

It’s fitting the Bears are wearing their throwback uniforms today, as it’s going to be an old-school, black and blue division football game.
