Bears DT Nate Collins out for the season with torn ACL
Rob Grabowski-USA TODAY Sports
The Bears announced today that DT Nate Collins is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The injury came shortly after Collins’ first sack of the year and leaves the Bears dangerously think at DT with All-pro Henry Melton already out for the year. Opening day start Stephen Paea missed Sunday’s game with a sprained toe and is questionable for Thursday night’s game. If he can’t play, that will leave newly signed Landon Cohen and rookie Zach Minter as the Bears only DTs. They could move DE Corey Wooten or Julius Peppers inside to DT and start 2nd year DE Shea McClellin at end. Either way, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about the DT situation. I expect the Bears to bring in another free agent DT this week.
