Behind Enemy Lines: Aaron Rodgers Out for Sunday

The Eagles are a good team that can play well against the Lions. The Giants always play well late in the year. The Ravens are the Super Bowl champions capable of playing well on any given Sunday (or Monday) and the Vikings have Adrian Peterson, who can run over a team and win games. This is the Lions remaining schedule. If the Lions lose two of these games, they finish 9-7.

If Rodgers is hurt and the Packers lose to the Falcons, they cannot finish with more than 8 wins, so they won’t win the division. They may not want to rush Rodgers back, so if the Bears can manage to beat the Cowboys, Browns, Eagles (tough), and Packers without Rodgers, they can wind up in the playoffs. Some of the defense may be coming back later in the season.

Look at the 2008 Jay Cutler led Broncos, who lost their last three games and the division. I don’t see why the Lions couldn’t choke too. They usually find a way to. If the Bears can play their best football and win out, I think the Lions will somehow allow them into the playoffs, where anything can happen. But that would be nice to get into the tournament, especially with a lot of the injured players returning. It would be good to get some of the players playoff experience, even if they don’t go very far. This is, of course, a HUGE “if.” Let’s just say, we fans will find ourselves rooting for a fair amount of birds in the near future. On Sunday, we root for the teams that have had Michael Vick as a quarterback at some point. Bird up, bear down.
