2013 is coming to a close and it’s time to look back on the year that was.  It’s been a bitter ending after losing the last two weeks with a chance to win the division.  Instead, the Bears will be watching the playoffs from the comfort of their couches just like the rest of us.  But 2013 has been a very eventful year which ushered in some major changes and had a lot of major story lines that we’ve followed.  2012 ended with a bang, as Phil Emery and the Bears fired Lovie Smith on New Year’s Eve and set the Bears on a new course

10. Mike Ditka’s #89 retired

The Bears finally honored former player and head coach Mike Ditka with a halftime ceremony on a frigid Monday night in a game against the Dallas Cowboys.  Of course, Ditka has won championships with both teams during his playing and coaching career, which is why the Cowboys game was chosen for the prime time festivities.  Next time, couldn’t they just schedule the game for September???
