I’m sure everyone would love to get to know Shad Khan and the Jaguars or have Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin reenact his little sideline stunt that he pulled against the Ravens, but let’s face it, the Chicago Bears would make an excellent choice for Hard Knocks. There are many reasons, but here are my Top 5:
5. Founding Franchise
The Bears are the founding franchise of the league. If not for Papa Bear Halas, we might all be soccer fans. The Bears franchise is rich with tradition and I’m sure plenty of football fans would love to get a glimpse at how this organization works. Maybe we get a glimpse of Virginia McCaskey, the granddaughter of Halas and matriarch of the Bears and arguably the league.
4. Phil Emery and Marc Trestman
If the end of the season presser is any indication, the Bears in charge – namely GM Phil Emery and head coach Marc Trestman – are not camera shy. They gave you nearly 90 minutes on the end of the season moves, speaking in painstaking detail and giving you everything you could want and more. These guys tell it like it is and something tells me they like the attention. It would be like a Hard Knocks – Revenge of the Nerds edition.
3. Best TV Market
Of all of the prospective teams, none of them has a TV market like the Chicago Bears. Chicago offers the third largest TV market, but when you consider there is no team in Los Angeles (until the Jags move there eventually) and the Giants split the market with the Jets, who were just on a couple of seasons ago, the Bears offer the biggest undivided piece of the pie.
