Free agency is just over a week away and we’re taking a look at the Chicago Bears pending free agents to see who might make sense to bring back.  Some of the biggest names were already brought back – Cutler, Jennings, Gould, Garza and Slauson – but there are still plenty of guys that don’t know where they’ll be next season.  I’m looking at these based on their 2013 cap hit, so next up is veteran linebacker DJ Williams.

Williams came to the Bears by way of a 1-year deal last offseason on a prove it deal after a suspension shortened 2012 season with the Broncos.  He was a cap casualty last March.  With Brian Urlacher’s departure, the Bears needed to add some veterans to the linebacking corps, so they brought in Williams and fellow cap casualty James Anderson.

Just when it looked like Williams was starting to click within the Bears’ defensive scheme, his season was cut short with a torn pec in Week 6.  He had a couple of sacks in his best outing the Bears during a Week 3 win over the Steelers.

The Bears linebacker position is a little crowded, with rookies Jon Bostic and Khaseem Greene returning and former DE Shea McClellin joining Lance Briggs as key linebackers under contract.
