We have the makings for a reunion of sorts, if former Chicago Bear Izzy Idonije rejoins the Bears.  NFL Network’s Albert Breer is reporting that Izzy will visit Halas Hall on Tuesday:

The Bears wanted to bring Izzy back last season but lost the free agent to a 1-year deal by the Detroit Lions.  Izzy spent nine seasons with the Beloved before he was lured away to the Lions last season.  Izzy had a very limited role with the Lions last season, appearing in 15 games with a half a sack and 7 tackles.  It’s odd because the season before in 2012, Izzy had arguably his best season with the Bears, with 7.5 sacks and 48 tackles moving around between DT and DE.

If the Bears bring Izzy back, it could spell the end of the line for  Corey Wootton.  Like Izzy in seasons past, Wootton moved between DT and DE to offer the versatility that the Bears needed.  Unfortunately, Wootton underwent offseason hip surgery that is keeping potential suitors away until he shows he’s healthy.

With additions like Willie Young and Lamarr Houston and re-signings of Nate Collins and Jeremiah Ratliff, the defensive line meeting room is getting a little crowded.  You have to expect the Bears will also draft a couple of prospects to get younger along the D-line, so it will be interesting how the rest of the roster shakes out.  In my opinion, Izzy would be a welcomed addition.

What do you think?  Does Izzy have anything left in the tank or would the Bears be better off gambling on a younger option like Wootton.
