We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Kickoff series last season that we decided to do it again.  In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Bears September 7th season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

In Chris Williams days, the Bears will take on the Buffalo Bills. First off, let’s clarify that this is not the 2008 first overall pick Chris Williams, who ended up being a disappointment. This Chris Williams was a Canadian Football League all star who is back in the NFL with the beloved Bears. He has very good speed, but his 5″8 height presents an obvious issue. He’s never been more than a practice squad member, but I can see him playing a little more as time goes on, especially on special teams. I hate the idea of wasting speed.

Greg Olsen #82 of the Chicago Bears celebrates a touchdown catch with teammate Matt Forte #22 against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field on November 14, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois. The Bears defeated the Vikings 27-13.

When I think of Chicago Bears wearing 82, the first man that pops into my mind is Greg Olsen. This solid tight end was traded from the Bears in favor of blockers. Boy, did that go well. Martellus Bennett probably ended up being better than Olsen anyway, but the latter is currently a solid Carolina Panther, and I see him only getting better.

Let’s hope Chris Williams provides some depth to the already elite receiving corps.  We’re 82 days away from kickoff.  Are you ready?
