We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Kickoff series last season that we decided to do it again.  In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Bears September 7th season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

Jennings is entering his ninth season and his fifth as a Bear. The last seasons has seen Tim elevate his game to a level where he has made the Pro Bowl twice.  Jennings started his career with the Colts back in 2006 as a second round draft pick out of Georgia. During his stay with the Colts he played in 53 games and had four interception,  he also garnered a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XLI.  In 2010, Jennings signed with the Bears as a free agent.

Tim’s breakout season occurred in  2012, when he led the NFL in interceptions with nine, made second teal All Pro and his first Pro Bowl appearance. In 2013, Jennings had another great season finishing with four interceptions and two touchdowns. Those four interceptions gave him 13 interceptions over two seasons. that put him second to Richard Shermans 16. Jennings also made his second consecutive Pro Bowl.  Making him only the second Bear defensive back to make the Pro Bowl two years in a row. The other being Peanut Tillman, 2011-2012.

The Bears reward Tim, with a new contract at the end of the 2013 season, for four years at $22.4 million with $11.8 million guaranteed.  With Jennings paired with Tillman it is believed the Bears have the best two corners in the NFL. Currently, with the drafting of Kyle Fuller, Jennings has been moved to slot corner allowing to use Tim’s speed.  It would not be surprising to see Jennings have another Pro Bowl season.
