The injury woes continue for the Chicago Bears. The Chicago Bears injury report lists a surprise addition – linebacker Shea McClellin. McClellin reportedly suffered a broken hand in practice and will be out against the Jets on Monday night.
That’s a bummer for McClellin, who had a strong outing against the Niners in the Bears win last week with a sack and seven tackles. Time will tell what happens with McClellin’s injury, but in the meantime, you can probably expect to see more of Jonathan Bostic in the Bears base defense. It could open the door for Khaseem Greene and rookie Christian Jones to see more time on Monday night.

McClellin won’t be the only starter to miss Monday night’s game. Defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff, who suffered a concussion in Week 2, has also been listed as Out for Monday night. Rookies Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton will be pressed into the rotation and Lamarr Houston could slide inside to give more opportunities to keep Willie Young, who’s come out of the gates quickly, to see more action at defensive end.
Couple those injuries with the season ending injury to Charles Tillman and the Bears defense will be without three opened day starters. Injuries decimated the Bears defense last season, so the depth will be put to an early challenge. The Jets are the top rushing team in the league, so all of the new faces will have to know their assignments and stay in their gaps to keep the Jets from running away with a win.
