It is hard to give the game ball away after the Bears lost another home game putting them below 500 on the season. However, the game ball must be given.

Just when fans thought the Bears had found their groove after a road win over the Atlanta Falcons they flopped at home yet again. The Bears were beat down on their home turf by the Miami Dolphins in a 27 to 14 loss. The offense made us cringe, defense made us cover our eyes and special teams made us shake our heads. The only cheers, high-fives or smiles came when Matt Forte had the ball.

The game ball this week goes to Matt Forte again and it is well deserved. In the past, he has been called Mr. Reliable but he should also be called Mr. Consistent and Mr. Everything. This season Forte has been a workhorse for his team. He is the Chicago Bears total offense. No disrespect to the dynamic duo Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey but Forte has been the guy. Everyone probably thinks when will someone other than Forte get a game ball? It seems he gets one every other week. Well, he has earned it. The honest truth is that though week 7 no one else has played well enough to earn multiple game balls.

He continues to shine even in the bad games. Forte’s numbers were solid this week in both the running and passing game. Rushing he averaged 4.1 yards per carry, 12 attempts, 49 yards total and 1 touchdown. Receiving he had 6 receptions, a total of 60 yards and 1 touchdown. All of the Bears points on Sunday were through Forte. At this pace Forte will be the Bears 2014 season MVP. The performance in week 7 proved once more why Forte is the most valuable player on the Bears offense and the best running back in the league.
