Fantasy Football Week 12 Recap

As bye-weeks ended across the NFL there were a few notable performances to keep an eye on as you get set for the Fantasy Football Postseason.

Drew Brees: Brees put up his first fantasy game of over 30 points this season in a Monday Night loss to the Ravens. With a (4-7) record and a share of the lead in the NFC South, the Saints may look to throw the ball early and often against their next few opponents.

Justin Forsett: In his eight years in the NFL, Justin Forsett has played for five different football teams, never rushing for more than 619 yards in a season. Since taking over as the starter in Baltimore, Forsett has rushed the ball for 777 yards in nine games. With 294 rushing yards and four touchdowns combined in the past two games, his career renaissance makes him a must-start for the rest of the season.

Matt Forte: Through 11 games in 2014 Matt Forte has 72 receptions. His career-high is 74. The Bears maybe out of playoff contention, but if you have Matt Forte in a PRR League you certainly aren’t. Heading into the postseason he’s the top back in PRR leagues.

Demaryius Thomas: After scoring only 22.1 fantasy points through the first three games of the season, Demaryius Thomas hasn’t had a single digit fantasy game since. In fact, Sunday was the first game Thomas has finished with less than 100 receiving yards since Denver’s Week 4 Bye. And he scored three touchdowns. With Julius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, and the entire Bronco backfield all injured, Thomas remains the top wideout heading into The Postseason.

Dez Bryant: With four touchdowns and 48.4 fantasy points in the past two weeks few people are playing better football right now than Dez Bryant. In a contract year no less. Next up on the schedule, Philadelphia, Chicago, and then Philadelphia again in Week 15. The Eagles are giving up the most fantasy points to quarterbacks and the Bears the third most. Both Tony Romo and Dez Bryant should put up plenty of points in the next few weeks.

Houston Texans Defense: Sunday was the first game the Houston Texans Defense failed to score double-digit fantasy points at home. They still managed nine fantasy points, and scored a defensive touchdown, as they have they are always a must-start in Houston. With three home games and two away games for the rest season, Week 15 in Indianapolis appears to be the only game the Texans Defense should be sitting on your bench for the rest of 2014.

Buffalo Bills Defense: The Bills Defense has recorded 27 sacks and 69 fantasy points in the past five weeks combined. In the month of November no defense has played better. However, with Denver, Green Bay, and New England all on the schedule in the final five weeks of the season it may be time to find another defense to lead you through The Playoffs.
