New Orleans Saints 31 vs. Chicago Bears 15
Usually, we would be talking about a standout player but this week no one gets the game ball. The Bears were horrible in all three phases of the game. It’s time to talk about the future, because the current state of the Bears is just too painful and embarrassing.
The Bears are now at a sad 5-9 record, after a beating by the New Orleans Saints. For a team with such high expectations heading into the season, they completely flopped. It’s time to face the brutal truths of what changes are needed for them to be successful in 2015. Here is a “To Do” list for the Bears, things they should start working on ASAP.
Hire a new general manager: Phil Emery is under fire, and he should be. Emery should take much of the blame for the Chicago Bears current 5-9 record. He continues to make bad acquisitions, starting with his choice of Marc Trestman for head coach. He has not brought in the right leadership or talent that is needed to win in the NFC North. The Bears are declining each week. It’s time for someone else to do the hiring for the Bears.
Find a new head coach: Marc Trestman was supposed to take the Bears offense to new heights and make them one of the better scoring teams in the league, but that didn’t happen. Instead, you have a less than mediocre offense that can barely score. They are undisciplined with costly penalties each week. His play calling and decision-making is questionable at times. If you have a quarterback as prone to mistakes as Jay Cutler, why not run the ball more? Matt Forte should be the feature of the Bears offense. This takes the pressure off Cutler and limits turnovers. None of this is with the intent to bash Trestman, he does have a good offensive mind, but his style of coaching does not fit the Bears. It doesn’t work in the NFC North and won’t help the Bears get pass the Packers or Lions and for this reason his time in Chicago has run its course. Time to move on.
