The Chicago Bears offseason is in full swing as we head toward the start of the new league year and Free Agency.  As a part of our Chicago Bears Roster Review, we’re leading off by looking at Bears Free Agents.  New GM Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox have some tough decisions to make as they reshape the Bears roster in hopes of a bounceback 2015 season.

Scott finished the 2014 season with a tackle. Yes, singular. Said tackle was made in garbage time of the second time the Packers blew out the Bears. In the 2014 pre-season, Scott showed a bit of athleticism, and was able to amass eight tackles.  He managed to crack the Bears 53. Fun fact: he received the Ed Block Courage Award in 2011. The award is given to players that emulate courage and sportsmanship.

The 6th round draft pick out of the University of Buffalo has spent time with the Patriots, Bucs, and the Raiders. Scott was a depth signing, so It’s tough to see him on the roster next year. In limited playing time, Scott has demonstrated that he could be effective as a rotational player, but nothing more. When he’s cut, he’ll get a few try-outs, he’ll garner interest from teams looking for some depth at the defensive end position.

There are definitely better suitors for the Bears. Hey, guess who’s a free agent this year. Corey Wooton. He’d play for cheap, and we’ve already seen what he can do.

This free agent class for defensive ends is quite impressive (Greg Hardy, Jerry Hughes, Jason Pierre-Paul, Brian Orakpo) and the Bears have the money to throw around. I’d expect Bears GM Ryan Pace to invest heavily in the defensive line in the coming months. With free agency just around the corner, I have a feeling Scott’s time with the Bears is coming to an end.
