RISE AND GRIND, BEARS FANS!!!  I’ve decided to try to resurrect an old favorite of mine, Bear Dawn.  It’s the latest Chicago Bears news from around the interwebs.  Here’s what you need to know for May 19, 2015:

The Bears were ranked the #7 draft class by NFL.com using Gil Brandt’s top 100 list as a point system.  Teams got points for taking a Top 100 player, 100 points for Brandt’s #1 prospect and 1 point for the #100 prospect.  Here’s how the Bears graded out:

"7. Chicago Bears: 216 points (5 players)Overview: The Bears got five Hot 100 players, including two of the top 32 on Brandt’s list. WR Kevin White was Brandt’s No. 4 player and Chicago got him with the seventh pick. DT Eddie Goldman was Brandt’s No. 32 player, and the Bears got him with the 39th pick. Chicago also got excellent value with RB Jeremy Langford (fourth-rounder, 106th overall) and S Adrian Amos (fifth-rounder, 142nd overall). The players (points)No. 4 WR Kevin White, West Virginia (97)No. 32 DT Eddie Goldman, Florida State (69)No. 77 C Hroniss Grasu, Oregon (24)No. 87 RB Jeremy Langford, Michigan State (14)No. 89 S Adrian Amos, Penn State (12)"

ESPN put out their Fantasy Football rankings and there were some interesting rankings for the Chicago Bears fantasy prospects:

  • Cutler 19th ranked quarterback
  • Forte 8th ranked running back
  • Alshon Jeffery 9th ranked wide receiver
  • Kevin White 27th ranked wide receiver
  • Martellus Bennett the 5th ranked tight end

The guys from Da Bears Beat broke down the Bears draft in their latest podcast.

Moon Mullin thinks we can expect the Bears to go back to a 2-back attack under Adam Gase.  John Fox likes the 1-2 punch:

"“We’ve always been believers in kind of a 1-2 punch and rolling guys through there whether it’s the d-line; a wave of those guys to stay fresh,” Fox said. “I’ve always had the approach the same thing with running backs.”"

ESPN Chicago’s Jeff Dickerson continues his roster breakdown with the offensive line.  Besides Garza’s departure, the big question is what happens at right tackle:

"After a promising rookie season in 2013, right tackle Jordan Mills took a step backward last year as he battled through a nagging foot injury. There have been no signs of trouble for Mills so far in the voluntary offseason program, but right tackle still remains somewhat of a question mark. Mills could be pushed in training camp by versatile offensive lineman Michael Ola, who started 12 games in 2014 (six at left guard, two at left tackle, three at right tackle, one at right guard). Charles Leno Jr., a 2014 seventh-round draft choice, is also in the mix for a roster spot after appearing in six games (one start) his rookie year. So is Ducasse, who started 11 games from 2010-14 for the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings."

So President Obama started his own Twitter account and followed all of the Chicago Sports teams except the poor Cubs.

Now if only I can get him to follow me!

Is Martellus Bennett hinting at his demise with the Bears?
